Text without background

Hello everyone,

So I've been having issues doing something really easy (I think)

I need to add a text to a part, but I can't extrude the text because it gives me a fault message. Probably the font is not correct and unable to extrude.

The reason the text needs a small extrusion is so that I can visualize it in a render.

I've now tried several programs to write a text without background and then import it into my sketch as an image. But I always get a background with it. The text is a name and two dates for on a gravestone and the customers want to have a view of how the stone will look like before ordering it.

Thanks

Did you enable the mask for your image?

(right click on the image node in the browser and select "properties")

Out of curiosity: which font were you using that had issues?

Hi Niels,

I've enabled the mask and now the background color of the png is gone, The decal is working and the text appears in my render.

Thanks

The font what is used is "childs"

Glad you got it working!

Closest i could find for "Childs" was "Child's font" which is supposedly from the "child's play" movie.
(there is something ironic if that's actually used for gravestone text)
As i'm unsure if it's the correct font i didn't download and inspect it, but it looked pretty straightforward in shape so it's probably down to small errors in the font itself.

Our "childs" font looks like this. It was already on my computer so I have no idea where it's coming from.

And thanks for the solution 👍

Ah, that looks very different from what i found.
This font seems very prone to self-intersection, the "P" in play is a great example.

If you'd ever want this font as actual geometry to extrude, you'll have to set up your text in a vector editing software (Inkscape, adobe Ilustrator) and convert it to outlines.
Then you can check for errors and clean up the font before exporting it to a format that can be imported into Inventor. (dxf, dwg)
