Sheet metal flat pattern creation help

Hello, Can someone explain to me how to make a flat pattern out of the following part? I didn't go about this perfectly since I created a standard part first and then tried to create convert it to sheet metal and make a flat pattern, that didn't work out so great. So i tried to use the contour flange feature and just copy the profile loop and create it in an actual sheet metal part that way...but no matter what I try I can't seem to get it to generate a new solid. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Environments>Convert to Sheet Metal.

Set your Thickness and Rip.

Flat Pattern.

But before you do all that - Sketch1 is not logically constrained to the origin and has only 1 dimension.

What's up with that?

Where is Hole3 (missing location dimension)?

Hi,

When I do that It doesn't create a pattern. It just changes the orientation to look at a face and spits the model back at me folded. See attached.

I guess what I really need help with is turning that sketch loop into a contour flange. As to why it isn't logically constrained...that is in large part due to migration errors in the CAD model of the machine that we are trying to retrofit some sheet metal belt guarding to. The relative locations and dimensions of things in the cad model seem to be correct from what our CMM and previous experience has told us. but the orientation of things relative to the origin in the model is wonky. I just need the profile turned into a flat pattern so we can outsource the bending operations.

Thanks

Then you missed one of my steps.

Did you set the Sheet Metal - Styles, Thickness variable?

Did you create a Rip feature? (I don't see one in your image attachment.)

Attach your *.ipt file here and end all doubt.

Why would I want the original?

How can I diagnose what step you missed by going back to the original?

Wouldn't it make logical sense for you to attach the file here in which you attempted to follow my steps?

I figured it out, but I do appreciate your condescending tone and largely snide commentary.
