Saving IDW to DWG(editable in autocad).

I need to convert 2D drawings from Inventor(IDW) to Autocad(DWG) . Using "Task Scheduler" I can convert them automatically, but it turns into a none editable DWG drawing. The only way I know its to save as... one drawing at the time then I get a true editable DWG in Autocad model space.

In TS, do you use export function?
Using convert function you get inventor .dwg, if I remember correctly.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. I need to export the idw file as dwg and work with/edit it in AutoCad. But the export function doesn't work for me. I export the file as .dwg but I can't edit it in AutoCad.

You guys may need to select the cad version for export before 2007. Hope it help.

I'm using 2022 and even using convert IDW to DWG it doesn't allow me to edit DWG file.
Is there any way to do this?

Save drawing as. Then select the AutoCad version you wish.

Hi! I am not sure if you are aware that AutoCAD can create associative drawing views for Inventor parts/assemblies. The command is VIEWBASE. After the views are created, you may use all the drafting tools in AutoCAD to annotate the views. The views are associative. When the Inventor model is updated, AutoCAD will update the drawing views too.

Another workflow to consider is to save the idw file as an Inventor dwg. Open the Inventor dwg file in AutoCAD. Use EXPORTLAYOUT command to export the sheet to a dwg file. Then you may edit the unassociative drawing in AutoCAD.

Many thanks!
