Rotation

This is a trial. I want to model a cylinder with 6 slightly twisted (5 degree) tooth. In the process I decided to make 3 similar sketches in 3 parallel planes with 5 degree turned and use loft command to make it.

But when I tried to rotate green colour sketch through 5 degree error message is coming. How to fix it?

Hi Fiatnm.

Try making the geometry into a sketch block first.

On a separate note, have you considered sweep with a twist?

As @PaulMunford mentioned ... Sweep with a twist...

If this would work ..then give him the kudo's/solution ...

Tooth are coming in a straight line, whether it is possible to make it come in a curved line like in this image.

yes ..that's possible ...

but that's a different type of gear

you'll need to change the design you're using...

are you doing this tutorial?

Not any tutorial, just curiosity.

what version of inventor are you using again?

here you can see more of the twist at different angles....

of you gear you'll need the back side larger ...so  a loft would be best if that's the gear you want ...

The one you started and end with the same sketch, just rotated, so that's what Paul and I were showing you.
