Right click menu issues

Hey there.

I have, for a while now, had issues with right click.

If I right click on an item/feature in an assembly, drawing or part it sometimes instantly chooses repeat (last command).

It doesn't instantly choose anything if I right click on the "paper" or the world where there are no items (I.e. parts, part lists, and what not).

If I click and hold right click, it seems like it doesn't do it.

I can't reproduce this behavior other places than Inventor.

I'm running 2018, fully updated. I don't recall when this started, although I can certainly say I didn't experience it in 2017, but it has been an issue for a while now.

Anyone knows what's up, or what I can do to test my hardware properly?

Yannick

I guess you are not to only one with the right click problem:

They are still working on it...

It appears you are right.

I did two searches, but only stumbled across 2012 and 2014 results, which is why I ended up posting anyway.

I accepted as solution, and hope to see a fix soon.

It's mindbogglingly annoying 🙂

I have the same issue.  The only work around I have managed is to be very slow and deliberate with your right mouse clicks.  click and hold down like your are walking on the moon.

Please Autodesk, fix this bug!

Hi! The issue is being actively worked on and the fix will be available as part of coming 2018.2 Update. In the meantime, if you are bothered by the behavior, you could turn off Marking Menu to avoid the behavior (go to View -> User Interface -> uncheck Marking Menu).

Many thanks!

I have a thought here, were we always able to right click to select a command from the right click menu?  I guess I never tried it because the left click is what I always use to make a selection.  But now in 2018 I've had the right click issue discussed earlier and I'm wondering if it isn't partly due to the fact that we can now use the right mouse button to select a command from the right click menu.

We have been able to do that since 2015 or 2016 when they introduced the "fast menu" or whatever they called it.

It may be an issue related to that (although I have no clue), but it's nice to hear they're fixing it

So its been over a year, and there are still right-click issues happening.  I myself am using Electrical 2019 and have an issue where the moment I move my cursor, the menu goes away.  Sometimes it activates any command that it wants on the right-click.  Its very frustrating and think Autodesk should try fixing ALL their known issues before putting out an updated product YEAR AFTER YEAR.

This is the Inventor forum, so ACE issues are not going to be addressed here.  Try the AutoCAD Electrical forum instead.

Update: I see that you did that already.

Hi Adam,

The right-click issue you are talking about is in AutoCAD Electrical. I will forward it to the team and see if they are aware of it.

Many thanks!

I am currently having this same issue in 2021 and have had the same problem in previous versions. Is there really no fix for this yet?

Hi! The issue should have been addressed by the latest update. Please make sure 2021.3 update is installed followed by 2021.3.1 update.

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue

So we just upgraded to IV 2021 and went pretty smooth except for quite a few complaints on the slow right clicks.  It's sporatic per PC.  Some were really bad w/ a 10-20 sec delay, so changed their video drivers and it improved a lot and still a bit sporadic and sometimes a 5 second delay sometimes instantaneously.  Everyone is up on IV Pro 2021.3.1.  A few are on .3.2  Also running Vault Pro 2021.2.1.

I could make a lot of friends if we can speed it up:)

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

This could be screen resolution/DPI and Qt UI framework issue. Please add the following two environment variable in Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment Variables.

  1. "QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR" as 0.
  2. "QT_SCALE_FACTOR" as 1 or other values, which defines a scale factor for Qt window

Many thanks!

Thanks much @johnsonshiue  - Can you confirm if I should apply the Variables to User Variables or System Variables or both?

Will post our results.

Regards

Mike

Hi Mike,

Either should work. Please report back the findings.

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue

Tried both variables at the same time in the System environment and set the values as suggested.

On the 2nd one:  I interpret that I can try other values.  Is there a rhyme or reason to other values.  Or maybe what range of values do I try?  Also I presume we should restart the PC for each variable we try?  I haven't been in the Environmental Variables before, so I'm treading lightly.

Thanks!
