Place and constrain several parts repeatedly

I need to place several identical parts in an assembly and constrain them to the holes of another part.

I use the "Insert" constrain but this is a tedious process as I have to repeat the entire process for each ring.

Is there any way to speed up this process?

The circle in the ring is always the same so I would just need to match it to the circle hole.

Ideally I would place the ring in the assembly, choose the circle to match it and repeat.

Any help is appreciated.

for quick work during that stage use iMates.

 

But the trade off is you need to set them up first.

From my knowledge, iMate is not a solution.

I have a lot of different parts like the green one (dozens) to match the rings to it.

So, I may be wrong but that would be time consuming too.

My suggestion would be to create a mini sub assembly of the hardware then create an iLogic routine to place them.

Did you model the green part, or is this an imported "dumb base solid"? If you modeled the holes, you could utilize the "Sketch Driven Pattern" in the part, place the washer, bolt, etc then use the feature pattern command to fill all the holes. You have have to constrain 1 set for the top, 1 for the sides and 1 set for the front. Advantage is you can add/remove additional points and the assy will update. Please see the quick video attached.

I use also Sketch driven patterns to do this kind of work.

 

Usually, the holes are created at the end of the process, so, I just have to create the holes (and driven patterns) with the next step in mind: using the best strategy to placing washers later.

Thanks for the reply.

The green part is a sheet metal part.

It is a good solution but still there is some prior preparation, and some parts are really complex shaped.

I think the best and fastest solution would be the "click-place" solution.

I have no experience with iLogic, but i'll check it out with someone here who has.

I was hopping to have some easy solution to implement.

iMate, turn off auto iMate.

Most CC parts has iMate already.

Part with insert iMate will mate to any holes, don't need iMate there.

You can Alt drag the part and mate them.  It'll take a few try to get used to it.
