Parent Sheet Zone parameter points to wrong zone

Hi everyone,

I have noticed that the PARENT SHEET ZONE parameter seems to point to somewhere other than the actual view location. Moving the parent view to different locations does not update the parameter from B5, but moving the drawing view itself does. It almost seems as if the parameter is updating based on an arbitrary spot on the drawing location rather than the parent view location. Strangely, it works in the opposite direction - the VIEW SHEET ZONE parameter updates correctly. I also tested this out on the default en-US drawing template with the same results.

For reference, the parent view text is formatted as 

<VIEW IDENTIFIER><VIEW SHEET INDEX>

and the detail view text is formatted as 

DETAIL  <VIEW IDENTIFIER>
SCALE <SCALE> ~ <PARENT SHEET INDEX>.<PARENT SHEET ZONE>

Hi Johnson!

I have updated to 2026.2.1 and the behavior persists. Attached is a zip file of a part and drawing, as well as an exported .pdf to show what I see on my end. I used the Default project with the default template, and the detail view's parent sheet zone points to C5, while it should point to B7. It almost seems like the parameter is referencing the part/assembly center rather than the parent view location.

Please let me know if you can reproduce this on your end, or if there are any problems with the zip file.

Many thanks for sharing the files! I took a quick look at the drawing. I think I know where the confusion is. The zoning label is based on the center of the view port. But when the view goes across multiple zones, the label can be confusing. Regardless, the point of the label is to ensure at lease part of the view be at the zone and it can be located easily.

Is there a way to make the zone system work with larger views? Many of our views are one large complex assembly that takes up most of the page. Our shop can already locate the assembly on the page with the Parent Sheet Index parameter, but they need to be able to find the location of the specific parent detail view at the correct zone.

Unless there is a way to do it with iLogic, it would be a nice setting to have. I'll submit it as a feature request later.
