Odd Right Click Behavior

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody else is experiencing an issue with right click context menus?  Sometimes, not all the time, when I right click on a part in the browser the menu comes up and the item the cursor is on gets a left click as the right mouse button lifts...  I'm not sure if I have a mouse issue or an Inventor issue.  I can't make the mouse do that in any other program but it's possible that's because other software pops the menu to the side of the cursor instead of under it.  I have undocked the browser and I use it in a second screen normally.  To record the screencast I dragged it back over the main Inventor window.  I got the right then left click action a couple times and then it acted like it was clicking in the graphics window instead of the browser.  Is undocking the browser a bit buggy?  I'll attach a screencast showing the issue and I'll quickly duck into Call of Duty to see if my gun fires when I raise the scope....

Thanks,

Randy Martens

10 Seconds? Dang. Haven't seen that here yet and hope not to.

That delay can totally disrupt one's thought process and workflow.

I spent $55 on a new mouse to fix this issue!   Well, my boss did.

I'm on the latest build, still happening.   The workaround is right click more slowly.  It double clicks so it selects whatever pops up in the context menu, whether you can see it or not.

Do you have it unchecked in Application Options -> Drawing?

I haven't experienced that one at least, but have had several issues in the past where options refused to stick

Hi Johnson,
I have this issue on 2 workstations running 2018.1.1 with Win 10. One laptop, one desktop. 2 different types of mouse.

What I find is that a short RMB seems like a double click. If I "long" RMB, Inventor behaves as normal.

This issue really kills productivity & while the "long" RMB works, it's very hard to get used to.

Hi Beedub,

We are still actively investigating the issue. It does look like there is an issue in right-click depending on the timing. If I have an update, I will let you guys know. In the meantime, if you are bothered by the behavior, you may consider turning off Marking Menu (go to View -> User Interface -> uncheck Marking Menu).

Many thanks!

Hi Johnson,

I may have to do that.  I've had a few instances now where this issue has caused an action that I wasn't aware had happened.  That could lead to some pretty bad results if you don't notice it before sending the part to production.......  I will miss the marking menu like crazy though.  Hopefully this is rectified quickly since it really interrupts our workflow.

Thanks,

Hey, Johnson, thanks for the info marking menu wouldn't have struck me as related or the cause.  Fixed up for now, I was wasting a lot of time hitting ctrl-z for a while there.

the only solution I found so far for this annoying issue is to click and hold while selecting from the right click menu, it will work as long as you keep holding the mouse button till the selection is done. at least it prevents unwanted selections which sometimes messes up the work.

It seems that when I right click, the window pops up for a quarter of a second and then selects Free Rotate. I've changed 3 mice trying to fix this. Have all the latest updates to 2018.

Please fix this!

I have tried holding the right mouse button down when selecting, and it has worked most of the time. After drafting for so many years and using the right click the proper way, it's a difficult habit to break.

Yeah if this isn't #1 priority right now it sure needs to be.  I'm finding errors in my assemblies due to unintentionally selected operations.  If one makes it to production we'll be in big trouble....  I know we can turn off marking menus to make the problem disappear but anyone who is fast and efficient in Inventor uses it reflexively.  Turning it off will eliminate the errors but be jarring to our workflow and reprogram our muscle memories incorrectly.  I don't want to have to reteach myself those reflexes.  Please please get this fixed fast!

Hi Joyce/Johnson,

This is probably a stupid question but is it possible to get a beta of this update?  This is probably one of the worst bugs I've ever encountered in all my years operating Inventor.  It disrupts every single click I make and is causing errors in my designs which, if I don't catch them before production, could cost 10s of thousands of dollars.  Please please get this fix out ASAP!

Thanks,

I now use the 'hold the right-click button' thing to not mess up my clicks.

It doesn't not work.
