New installation doesn't create drawing

AI 2018 (new installation of AI2018 on new SSD) refuses to drag Base Drawing onto Drawing

My drawing template was created years ago, is saved to the new SSD as a DWG, opened as such and a copy saved as a template.  It is that template I am using.

If this YouTube video does not work in this Forum go to Get Video

Thanks

Hello @Vagulus,

Does the workflow works ever for default template in your machine? Have you migrate the template to latest version? if so, it most related with your own template, is that possible to provide a template file here by removing IP?

Thanks!

I get the same result with the ANSI(mm).dwg template.

I have migrated the template (which was originally created on AI2015) to 2018.

I have attached my template straight out of the templates --> metric folder.

Not sure I follow what you're trying to accomplish here..  Are you saying the "Drawing View" dialog is not appear?

Do not click, hold and drag from Base.

The mouse action does not occur till mouse-up, not on mouse down.  (Permits debouncing of switch signal.)

Simply left click and release on the Base glyph.

No, Mark, I am saying that I cannot drag Base onto a drawing.

That's exactly what I do.  I LMC on Base and drag to the drawing area, then release the left button.

That is EXACTLY what I wrote to NOT do.

That's why I wasn't following your workflow..  You have never been able to drag that ribbon icon..   Where did you think you could?

Sorry JD.  I have misread you again.  What I saw was, "Do not click, ... [pause] ... hold and drag from Base."   Then I missed the line at the bottom.😵

Funny, though.  I would have sworn that I used to click and drag.

Anyway - works now.  Thanks again.
