Model parameters in Linear Diameter Dimensions not exported properly to DWG

Hello,

If I have problems with the result if I follow the next procedure

1. Add some model parameters in a linear diameter dimension in a drawing.

2. Export to DWG.

If I export to PDF the result is ok but to DWG then I get x#; (where # is a number) in place of the model parameter value. With normal dimensions it is also ok.

I attach a coulple pictures where it can be seen.

Am I doing something wrong? How can I solve this?

Thank you very much.

Hi @Anonymous,

can you please tell me which Inventor version you use and how you export to DWG. Save as or export?

And if you could upload your dataset - that would be perfect Smiley Wink

Thanks

Hello Sofia,

Thank you for your answer.

I am using Autodesk Inventor professional 2017 Build 196 Release 2017 SP1 Date 07/13/2016. If I try to update with autodesk desktop app I do not find any newer version to install.

These are the steps I follow:

1. Create linear diameter dimension

2. Modify the dimension adding some other model parameter in it

3. File > Export > Export to DWG

Save as type -> AutoCAD DWG Files (*.dwg)

4. Options...

    Configuration > Configuration not saved

File Version > AutoCAD 2013 Drawing ( I tried others with same result

    Nothing else checked

5. Next

    All sheets checked

    Model Geometry only unchecked

Data Scaling > Base View Scale - Model Space

    Closest to AutoCAD Mapping selected

    Mapping Options never changed

6. Finish

7. Save

Then I get result with x0; or x1; or with other numbers in the dwg drawing. If I export to pdf I get the right value (the model parameter value).

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous,

I could recreate the issue. Apparently the diameter symbol produces some misbehavior. If you need to use this kind of dimension, please put in the diameter symbol manually. This should solve the problem.

In the meantime I will log this issue with our development - but this can last quite a while...

At this moment the solution is not to use the automatic diameter symbol.

Sorry for the inconvenience Smiley Sad
