Mfg. Approved By and Mfg. Approved Date don't update from Vault in Rev. Table

Hello

These two fields aren't updated from Vault in the rev table when they are modified in Vault client.

Here are the steps:

- I have a drawing with a revision table with these two fields; I also create a text note with these two fields. Initially they don't have any info displayed
- I checked in the file in Vault and add values to these two fields; they show in Vault as expected.

- I check out the drawing in Inventor and automatically both fields are updated in Revision Table and Text Note.

- I check in the drawing back to Vault and modify these two fields; Vault works as expected, changes are displayed.

- I check out the drawing in Inventor and both fields in Revision Table are not showing the new changes from Vault. However, the text note is updated and shows the changes.

- I tried different settings in the Vault revision table command, Data card, Update Properties in INV, etc

- If I look into the iProperties of the drawing, the new vault changes are there... they are just not updating the revision table accordingly. I have to manually do something in the iproperties to get APPLY button active and then will trigger the revision table update.

Am I missing something or it's just a bug?

I'm using Inventor/Vault 2019 and will check it soon in 2020.

Thank you for any suggestion.

Hi,

Are using Vault Property mapping for this?

Or is the output based on the heading within the Revision-List.

Please send me an snapshot of the Revision Table, and the same screenshot of this:

Thank you for replying back.

Both properties are mapped dual ways to Vault and back to Inv. Mapping is fine as the text note updated accordingly as expected.

See attached the pic. Even if I have both files in the dialog box or not, it does the same.

Could you please send me a screenshot of the revision table too?

I need to see how the headings are written/displayed.

See attached. Red is Mfg Date and yellow is Mfg approved by.

In the iproperties I have the new info from Vault, and Revision table still displays the old data.

Thank you

The heading must be exactly the same as the properties that are used in vault!

@radu1234

To add to what @bradeneuropeArthur  said about the properties and headings... see my signature for a class I just did at AU last fall on Vault Revision table with both AutoCAD and Inventor.  Maybe something in there could help?

Thank you both for help.

I reordered the fields in the Vault revision table in the settings and left exactly the ones that I have in revision table in drawing... no change. I also changed the order of fields in the vault revision table in settings, same stuff.

Notes:

It always updates the Revision number wherever is situated in the table.

It always updates all the fields in the revision table first time for a drawing; it doesnt work in case to edit the fields.

It always updates all the fields [wherever they are in the table.. I moved them (just to test) so they dont match the order from Vault settings rev table] when adding a new row, like Rev 1 (when updated from Vault).

All the time, fields are correct in the iproperties but they dont refresh the rev table drawing fields. I need to open the iproperties dialog box, do something so Apply is active, then OK and rev table fields are updated accordingly.

I tested in 2020, it's the same think.

Have a great weekend!

I will come back to it noon Monday.

Than I can give you a more detailed description.

Because I think your configuration is still wrong.

Because I am far from my desk I can not explain it right now because I can't make screenshots.

Hint!

The headings must be exactly the same as the properties mapping like in the details of the revision table in the vault options. This means not the property selves are required in the table, but the headings (displayname).

But wait till Monday ...

Arthur Knoors

Hi

This example shows how it needs to be written/configured.

@bradeneuropeArthur @cbenner

Finally I have some time to test it and I have some news.

I only kept three fields so I simplified it a lot in order to understand the functionality. I did exactly like above, I selected the "Control the type of information..." from Vault revision table. When editing the fields in Vault explorer, both fields are updated in the iproperties (when open the drawing in Inv) but they not update in rev table. See attached, if I edit the rev table in Inv, fields are automatically static values. (the system does it). If I remove the static value they update accordingly. It does that all the time, even if I check in the file without static values.

If I dont select that "Control the type of information..." from Vault revision table then everything updates accordingly in the iproperties and ALSO in the rev table in Inventor. Of course, if I edit the rev table in Inventor, I see again blue (static values). Interesting, if I go to iproperties and change the fields, does not update back to rev table; it makes sense because they are static values. After I check in the file in Vault, both fields are showing updated (in Vault). If I look at drawing (Get or preview), rev table shows updated fields in rev table which is very good.

Conclusion, I think I will adopt the second workflow (if my Eng. department agrees) without those selections of "Control the type of information..." in Vault. This is the only difference against what you showed be in the previous post.

Is this how is supposed to work?

Thank you both for helping out.

Could you please make the same screenshot as this for me?

The information (Property values) are overwritten "blue" values in Vault-revision table, to my knowledge.
