Isometric Dimensions on Drawing

I am trying to add dimensions to an isometric view on a drawing.  I have attached an image of what this looks like in Solidworks, and would like to make something similar in Inventor.

I have figured out lots of way to make it look bad, but haven't found the one that looks good.

FYI, Solidworks looks good the first time.

Ahhh, Solidworks.  12 years and a CSWP.

Dimensioning Isometric views can be challenging.  What I would suggest is on the dimensions you want to look like SW, select "Edit Dimension Styles"  And go where I show below.

DIM.jpg

This will put the dimensions inline and make it look more like the SW dimensions.

Windows 10 x64 -16GB Ram
Intel i7-6700 @ 3.41ghz
nVidia GTS 250 - 1 GB

This doesn't seem to help.

I even increase the font size, but if I keep increasing it, the vertical dimension will look bad.

Truthfully, this is one of the areas that needs to be worked on.  Dimensioning isometric views as you are seeing is challenging at best.

Hi @ToddPig,

It should be pretty straight forward for simple parts as shown in your image, I typically just select the lines to dimension, but end point work too.

Note that if the view or your part is "off plane" or "off origin" the results can be off.  Sometimes using the right click options to select plane placement can help with that. I'd guess that something like that is what's going on, but it's just a guess.

Note too that in this video I tap the Space bar to change the dimension plane when there are multiple solutions.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

I have always found it to be easier to dimension isometric views in Inventor than in SolidWorks?
