ISOMETRIC VIEW DIMENSIONING (IDW FILE)

ISOMETRIC VIEW DIMENSIONING (IDW FILE)

Hello everyone,

Situation:

As a teacher, I can not use Inventor to create the exercises and tests for my CAD classes. It is beacuse Inventor does not have enough features to dimensioning isometric parts and assemblies views in IDW mode, like the IMAGE 2 below.

I have already tried to create sketches with points, lines, etc. and nothing happens. For example, the correct value for dimension showed in IMAGE 1 should be 33 mm, but, I can not select faces in IDW mode and it takes it in angle.

Idea:

So, my idea is to improve (or create new ones) features for dimensioning, isometric views of parts and assemblies in IDW file.

I think something like the measure tool works very well, but how to create, it is not my job yet.!

It will be very helpfull for teacher around the world, like me.

Any questions, please let me know!

Kind regards,

Rafael R.

Hello Rafael,

You are able to dimension that style drawing in the .idw environment

you need to right click on the view and change the projection to true

Solution Sequence

1. dimension iso view

2. selected 2 lines to get apparent intersection point (right mouse click intersection)

3. then select second line (use spacebar to toggle position)

4. Done

hope this helps, it take some practice to use intersection, I use it all the time.

Cheers.
