Is it possible to export parts in an assembly, .iam file as .dxf files?

 Hello,

my very first post here in the community.

I just learned how to export face as and export sketch as... in my case I will be exporting as .dxf files. I've utilized all the parts to build a cabinet using assembly feature in Inventor and is there any function for me to export all the parts in the assembly platform to individual .dxf files so I can view all the parts in CAM software(Enroute)?

No "batch" tool that I know of for that.. There is an addin that can export dxf files of sheet metal parts and their associated flat pattern but short of that I don't know how Inventor would know the desired face to export without you manually telling it each one..

Then is there way to lay out all the parts on a plane after you assemble?
Like a broken down cardboard box.I work in the cabinetry manufacturing
industry and we mostly do custom size cabinets so I am trying to save time
as much as possible on my end..

I don't know about STEP or SAT but I do know for sure that Enroute imports
DWG files

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I have a solution to your question about being able to generate DXF's for individual parts of an assembly for direct import to a CNC machine.

While Inventor does not have the ability to do this, there is an add on piece of software for Inventor called 'Woodwork for Inventor' that, once installed, will display a 'Woodwork Design' tab on your Inventor ribbon, and one of the tools included on this tab is called 'Auto Plot' which will allow you automatically generate individual DXF's for all parts of an assembly, complete with hole tables. It is also worth noting that the Woodwork for Inventor software will allow you to automatically generate a true cutting list.

Needless to say, the Woodwork for Inventor add on software comes at a price, but if you are involved in the woodworking industry and you frequently need to generate individual part DXF's for export, then it is something worth considering.

As matter of fact, I checked out the woodworkforinventor.com prior to your reply since I've done some research from the day that I posted my question to this Forum and I really do think who developed woodworkforinventor and the extension to inventor made for wood working industry should be awarded for what they have created! Even by visiting the website just help me tremendously to utilize more of my inventor for my production. Unfortunately I have not contacted them for any sort of quote or pricing for the extension just yet. I don't work for Woodwork for Inventor, I'm a draughtsman, cabinet maker and furniture designer working in Nottingham, England.

The software developers that wrote the Woodwork for Inventor add on are called Celi APS and I believe they are based in Lithuania. Celi APS are an authorised Autodesk developer, so my advice for getting a quote for the WW4I software is to contact your Autodesk reseller. There is a 'Find a Reseller' tab on the website where you just enter your country and it will list the Autodesk resellers that can offer WW4I. If you are in England, then Graitec can offer this software and training.

Unlike Autodesk software, the WW4I software has not moved to the subscription only model yet, and they still offer perpetual licenses, with a yearly subscription for upgrades and technical support. The quote I received from Graitec back in May was £995 per license with an annual maintenance subscription of £225. Note that the annual WW4I subscription entitles you to install the software on multiple pcs, so you can install it on your home pc as well as the office pc.

My experience is the WW4I install is straightforward and it bolts seamlessly into your Inventor ribbon.

Now, Woodwork for Inventor is not perfect, no software is, but it goes a long way to making Inventor more user friendly for the woodworkers of the world, and Celi APS are making improvements to the software with every release.
