Inventor 2027 Assembly and Drawing file Update Time

I've got a set of Drawing Sheets, 42 a present and growing, in one IDW file.  If I make a change to a part then go into the IDW it takes an age for Inventor 2027 to update, to a point where I get the "NOT RESPONDING" message on the top of the screen. I've never had this problem with 2026. It's also slow when updating the Top end Assemblies and also some subassemblies but not to a point of not responding.

I've done the usual, defragged, cleaned out unnecessary files etc. but no change

I've checked and I do have ALL the latest downloads and updates installed for BOTH IV 2027 and Windows

@Paul-Mason Thank you posting the issue to us, and suppose it is related to the dataset. If possible, could you please attach the dataset or email to via: [email protected]? That will be really helpful for us for further investigation.

Thanks,

Can't send the file it to big, even using all the tricks including zipping it.

And it IS ALSO happening with all my other projects.

Hi Paul,

I had similar issues with 2025IV when i was working on large assembly with 100 + at top level. I just deleted fasteners (from content library) and used dummy lines in inventor BOM. Fasteners take lot of time to update esp if its patterned and too many. Just material itself is easy. You can use shrinkwrap, substitutes and other tools to make it small. Or you can create LOD with fasteners suppressed.

Regards,

Yash

Any fasteners such as Nuts and bolts, washers, rivets etc.  are all in imperial sizes, BSF, BSW or BSP are created by me as a ipt files they are saved in the same place as all the other files in the project.

As for patterning its a small  0-4-0 steam Loco that I'm currently busy with so theirs not much other that holes there are patterns, even those are within the parts them selves, with some, not many of them being patterned in either a sub-assembly or the main assembly, but those are very few

I very rarely use content center that's because the imperial sizes are all ANSI and this, as are most of my current projects, to Old British Standards, so even with any rivets, like nuts and bolts, they''re are created from scratch as an ipt and stored in the same file as everything else in the project and very relay patterned as I use the old method of one base/datum and one say an inch from it, then a note leader sating something like "12 off Equally Spaced" or "12 Off EqS"

YES I am STILL experiencing issues, the AI suggest it is to do with the "Total Occurrence In A Document" or "Open Documents This Session"  other than that it as much use a chocolate fire guard

A bit of a workaround is to ONLY update the sheets showing lightning Bolt next to them.  Highlight them one at a time then use the UPDATE, the icon with the lightning bolt and a single sheet of paper NOT the icon with the lightning bolt and a two sheets of paper. Inventor is still slow but this is marginally faster that using the UPDATE ALL, the icon

Hi Paul,

Please share the files on a cloud drive of your choice and grant the access to me at [email protected] or River at [email protected]. Please also make sure all the critical Windows updates, the latest graphics driver, and all the critical PC vendor updates are installed. Use Windows Disk Cleanup to remove cached files. Whitelist Inventor.exe and autodesk.com in network traffic control/antivirus tool.

Many thanks!

Hi Paul,

Could you please try to disable drawing background updates?
