Handrail Loft

Hi,

New user here. I need to make a series of wood handrails that fit a metal rail I shot with lidar. So the paths are more organic than math. The profile is inconsistent as it travels so I'm trying to loft through the path. I'm failing pretty miserably.

The preview of the solid it shows looks great, but I get an error saying "project cut edges did not produce any output geometry" I tried changing the projected geometries to construction lines as well as deleting them entirely. Can someone explain what I'm missing?

If you get rid of sketch 6 it seems to work. Is there a reason you are not placing the sketch blocks into the sketches? This way if you make a change to the block all cross sections update.

Hi!

This is not related to loft tool.

The profile is sick, and probably the cause is to have many "noise" geometry.

Not even a simple extrusion work using that specific profile...

I would clean the profile, turn the geometry into a block, and use that block as profile.

SO CLOSE, THANKS BLAND

The profile has two elements that need to change as it goes along the path. The CL needs to point up in Z and the base line needs to follow the pitch of the metal rail. Most of the sketch relations are done in a block, inserted, then exploded to finish making the Z and pitch relations. I assume i'm doing this the hard way.

I cleaned up the profile, turned it into a block, and it works great, even with organic paths.
