Inventor 2019 right click issue

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello,

Recently my coworker faced an issue with the mouse right click button not working. The issue only stopped when he restarted the program. After a while the issue repeated itself and kept repeating even more often. The right mouse button stops working while using Inventor 2019, if you minimize the window and right click on the desktop, the mouse works fine, but as soon as you right click in Inventor nothing happens. As I've mentioned before, only a program restart resolves the issue.
Meanwhile, my computer does not face this issue at all, but it may happen soon enough as well.

Maybe there is a solution that we haven't found yet, I would be glad if anybody could help.

Hi all. I recently came across this issue and i have learned what triggers it(for me at least). I recently installed ASUS GPU TWEAK II (software that can overlay performance related data during games such as fps, gpu speed, temperature ETC).

If the software is running, then Inventor 2019 does not show right click, and also when i open New, my templates are not showing.

If i close the software, everything works fine.

Hope this helps!

Regards.

Hi Costi,

Many thanks for sharing your findings! My original suspicion was that something out of Inventor's control was affecting. However, I don't have a clue. Nor do I know what it was.

Thanks again!

Thank you, I had the same problem with Inventor 2020. I also have ASUS GPU Tweak II installed and whenever it is running the right click menu doesn't show.

Hi! Please install 2019.4 update followed by 2019.4.2 update. Does it work better now?

Many thanks!

I thought I would add to this thread. I have Inv. 2021 installed but I saw the same issue in 2020. I was hoping that the new version would fix it but it doesn't appear to be the case. Here's what happens for me: right click will work flawlessly until I come across a file reference issue. This happened to me recently when I had an assembly open, deleted a part file from my computer, and tried to right click on a mate associated with that part in the assembly. Naturally, deleting a part from my computer was a mistake that was easily fixed but Inventor's right click no longer worked in the model tree or model space. It worked fine in the ribbon and file tab sections but nothing I tried would bring back its functionality (including turning off the marking menu). Only a restart of Inventor works.

Just had that problem too, totally out of the blue.
the only way to make it work again, was restarting the APP (AIProf2021)

Hi all, I still got this problem every now and then. Seems to happen when I place STEP-files in an assembly. After a few constraints, the right mouse click stops working..

This sounds like it could be a different cause for the issue.

Can you Attach an assembly here that exhibits this behavior?

I have had this happen multiple times in inv 2020. Usually it is related to constraints that have errors after applying, or moving objects that have sick constraints. Only a restart of inv solves it.

Hi! It could be due to bad geometry. Press Ctrl+F7. A dialog will come up showing the body statistics. Scroll down to the bottom. Are there any bodies marked bad? You will need to repair the bodies or hide them while you are making changes. They can cause instability depending on the badness.

Many thanks!

Here is a very easy way to reproduce this issue on my Inventor 2021. It works every single time.

1- Create a new assembly

2- Insert a part (.ipt) in the assembly. Any part will do the job.

3- Import a step file. I'm using a step file of a screw downloaded from mcmaster for this demo.

4- Apply a mate between this imported step and the first part.

5- Right-click the mate in the browser tree. You get a ''Serious Error'', The system cannot find the file specified. Right-click is gone until inventor is restarted.

Note that saving the assembly between steps 3 and 4 will prevent this bug. When saving the assembly, Inventor will create a .ipt version of the imported step file. Working on this .ipt is fine and will not break right-clicking.

Hi! I am not able to reproduce it on 2021.3 update. Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and 2021.3 update is installed followed by 2021.3.1 update.

Many thanks!

Hi! This might be a different issue than the original one, though the error message is the same. Try this. Clean up %temp%. Make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and graphics driver is updated. For Inventor 2021, you need to make sure .Net 4.8 is enabled.

Many thanks!

I just started having this issue over the last week and I'm using Inventor 2022. The only way around it, is to save everything, upload to Vault, and restart Inventor. It's also happening more frequently each day.
