Inventor 2019 right click issue

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello,

Recently my coworker faced an issue with the mouse right click button not working. The issue only stopped when he restarted the program. After a while the issue repeated itself and kept repeating even more often. The right mouse button stops working while using Inventor 2019, if you minimize the window and right click on the desktop, the mouse works fine, but as soon as you right click in Inventor nothing happens. As I've mentioned before, only a program restart resolves the issue.
Meanwhile, my computer does not face this issue at all, but it may happen soon enough as well.

Maybe there is a solution that we haven't found yet, I would be glad if anybody could help.

What updates has been applied to Inventor 2019?  Is you Inventor 2019 version different than your co-worker?  Operating system on both machines?

Mine is doing the same thing. I cannot right click anywhere.  This is very troublesome if you have many files open for a large assembly and have to save, close, and restart each time. Anyone found a solution?

Hi! Please make sure .Net 4.7 is installed on your machine. Also, install 2019.3 update.

Many thanks!

I have all those installed and still have right click issues.

Client says he has to right click like 3 times before it does what he wants, it has never stopped working it is just not as quick click like 2012 was. As I was playing around for a week on his machine I noticed it myself.

Stop messing with the interface and this would not have happened.

My boss and I are having the exact same issue, both of us on the latest version of Inventor, have .NET 4.7, and running Windows 10. Strangely enough, he gets the problem more frequently but when I get the issue, Windows 10 is always deactivated within a minute or so. Re-activating simple requires me to open up the activation panel, but when Win10 deactivates it boots me off the domain, which is about as fun as it sounds when working off a server. Luckily it only happens 1-2 times a month, but when it does it's a race to save everything important before I get disconnected.

Hi Guys,

The behavior is definitely wrong. But, I need to narrow down the reproducible steps. Could you check and see if Marking Menu is checked (View -> User Interface -> Marking Menu)?

Many thanks!

Hi James,

Many thanks for the confirmation! I will work with the project team to understand the issue better. In the meantime, if you happen to find a pattern of the behavior, please let us know too.

Thanks again!

I have the same issue, I can't tell if it's the cause or coincidence, but I seem to notice it happening more when I right click in my model tree. I've also noticed this happening around the same time that I use Content Center parts.

Again, not sure if it's part of the pattern or coincidence.

I will keep paying attention and see if I can narrow down a reason.

Hello,

I'm getting the right click issue as well.  Has this issue been figured out, or is it still an on going problem.  Originally I didn't have this issue (8 months), but now it is starting to occur.  Could this be a Windows 10 update issue?

Thanks

Hi! Unfortunately, we are not able to reproduce the behavior. Please make sure you have all critical Windows updates installed. If you see a pattern, please let us know asap.

Many thanks!

I have had this same issue a few times and just worked around it... saved my files and restated Inventor...

As per @johnsonshiue  suggestion I checked the marking menu, and turned it off.

Right click menu works fine now without a restart..

I tried turning it back on and instantly right click is not working...

So Inventor software engineers, you will want to redesign the coding with marking menu, or at least you will want to figure out what the conflict is..

Hi! I could be wrong since we don't have a way to reproduce the behavior. I suspect there was some sort of dll collision. This means that the required UI components utilized by mini toolbar are missing from your machine or the ones on your machines are not compatible with Inventor. Is there any environmental path (Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment variables -> check and see if there is any path leading to Qt5 related dlls.

Many thanks!

Hello,
Thanks for the response.
I'm not the IT guy here, but from what I can tell there is nothing in the Environment Variables that relate to Qt5. For us, this issue doesn't happen all the time. Very intermittent.

You keep saying it is not reproducible, but how did you know the marking menu was the issue? (Turning it off worked for me just now.)

Hi! It is only my speculation. I can be wrong all the time, since I am not a developer and I cannot say it for sure. The right-click context menu does use some shared UI components, which I suspect could be related.

Many thanks!

Since the recent update 2019.4 we haven't had this issue. So far so good.

FYI, the same thing happened to my colleague only a couple hours after me. He just unchecked the Marking Menu and it was working fine again.
