Hi all,
I thought I would share this here, as I struggled to get Microsoft Windows 7 to open all .dwg files by default in Inventor.
Start > Run > Regedit > File > Export (Saves a backup of your registry file)
Start > Run > Regedit > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Classes > Click on .dwg; *.idw > On right bar right click on (Default) > Modify > Copy Value Data (It should be: Inventor.DrawingDocument) > Then click on .dwg (right above .dwg; *.idw) > On right bar right click on (Default) > Modify > Paste text into value data.
Try opening a drawing from your windows browser and set Inventor as default program to open dwg extensions.
Hope this helps, feel free to give kudos if this post saved you some time :-).
