I would skip 2018 release if you want to keep your sanity.. this is with 2018.2.1 update even thought the errors were there out of box the update fixed none of these.
1st ilogic no longer works under libraries without a workaround and even then I still have issues... Autodesk already said this will not be fixed.
In the picture below you will see point hole centers off the part. Well they started on the part but for some reason 2018 likes to move them away after placing dimensions on them. Sometimes it will toss it way out in no mans land.
The error you see below is an iMate error from replacing part. I have done this all the time but now 2018 errors out all the time.
The picture below is.............well I don't know 2018 seems to love these long dimension extension lines and you can't fix them and they do it as they please sometimes even throwing the dimension 10 miles away from your part and when you drag it back these line get longer and longer and longer.
So far I have not found 2018 fun to work with and thought I would let you know before you make the mistake and load it..

Here is another issue with 2018
Notice how freely it moves till I click on adjust..
...
.....
This new Material and appearance needs to go away it is crap. Inventor is for manufacturing not to make posters. Inventor needs to get back to the basics. You know when it worked.....
It was so easy to add colors and textures now it is a nightmare and can't even add my own colors.. NOT AN IMPROVEMENT.
I just tried the same thing... Created a Face in a sheetmetal part, then tried to "Adjust" the color of a face. While in the "Adjust" command" I can orbit, pan, zoom.etc on the part just fine. No lag what-so-ever. No issue here with my system.
Is the issue that your system lags when trying to change the view of the part (Orbit, pan or zoom)? There looks to be some type of texture on your part. Can you post the part here?
I like 2018... Working just fine for me..
and I like Twinkies just in case that comes up..
Great to hear..
Maybe it is the widow version..
Maybe I do things you don't. I test for fails...
Maybe it was when it failed on install it screwed mine up.. But Autodesk insured me it was fine.
This was the 1st time ever loading Inventor I had issues on the install.. And the error it gave made no logic because it was asking for something that I had.
I dont have any problems rotating your part while in the "Adjust" command. Works fine here.
I am like mcgyvr. 2018 is working fine for me and all our users here. Very few minor issues.

You have video? Not exactly sure what you mean. Can you rephrase the question?
Do you have a 3D mouse? Yes. I have a SpaceMouse Pro, but its in its box in my desk drawer. Didn't like using it, so I just use a standard two button mouse.
What windows you on.... I am using Win 7 Pro. Inventor 2018.2.1

Here is another thing I would like to know why Autodesk thought it would be great to remove after everyone ask for it back in the day..
What happen to the apply option so the dialog window stays open?
Again another great improvement NOT.......
Did Autodesk buy stock in computer mouse stocks? more clicks more miles for the mouse to travel. I think they are trying to wear out the mouse or my fingers..

Personally I don't remember "apply" being there for extrude dialog..
Its there for some though still..
Personally (again).. I don't know that I've ever needed to keep extrude open like that so the button would just be basically useless for me....
Used for surfacing if you have 10 holes you want to make into a surface you have to do them 1 by 1 so having apply it left it open makes it a lot faster.
Here is the video of what happens when I try to rotate the part while in the "Adjust" command. Works fine from here.
My system stats:

Hi James,
Many thanks for the feedback! Every corner in Inventor has room for improvement. There is no lack of target for sure. The UI workflows have been a focus. I agree with you that certain workflows are very cumbersome and simple things were made difficult. The workflows may not be streamlined and straight forward. We are aware of that and we are working to change that. It may not happen overnight. But, the Measure tool is the first example of the design philosophy. You will see more and more workflows moving in that directly. The point is that the new UI should be easy to understand and it should be more powerful, less mouse clicks, and looking nicer.
Thanks again!
As complicated as this program (and other cad programs) are these days, there's going to be bugs here and there. And one has to understand that there's always an unknown domino effect that can happen by changing/improving one command that, for whatever reason, causes another command to go haywire. Heck, you can see such in your part models at times...you change some feature over here and on the opposite side, something totally unrelated (or so you thought) changes, more so in assemblies.
Fact of the matter is, no complicated software program works perfectly. You have to take the good with the bad and know things will get addressed.
Where I get PO'd is when a program (and I'm going to go back to my CADDS5i days for this) has a manually typed command of "CHA" for years and years but then the next release it has been changed to "CHAN" for what seems like no apparent reason.....that's when I start spitting bullets....LOL
