Help with the Cone rip

Hello everyone.

I am having an issue with the rip of the cone (part is attached).

It seems that the rip command doesn't work. I modelled the cone by revolution and loft/shell commands and then tried Rip but without success.

What do I do wrong?

Best regards,

Sergey

I have found the solution:
Cone should be made as sheet metal by using the Loft flange method (Die Formed).

Then Rip does work well.

Best,

Sergey

Hi Sergey,

I am glad that you find a workaround using Lofted Flange. Actually, your original part would have worked. The issue was the the Shell creating the faces non perpendicular to the Sheet Metal face. As a result, the Rip does not work properly.

Instead of Solid Loft, you could create the Loft as a surface (or use Delete Face to turn the solid into a surface). Then thicken it by the thickness. After that, Rip will work.

Many thanks!

Thank you for advice.

I will try surface method.

Best regards,

Sergey
