Help... Drilling a hole in a cylinder

I am doing my GCSE's and i am making a microphone stand, for the base to hold the foldable legs I need to drill a hole in the cylinder which is the shape, I know how I would do his in the workshop but I don't know how I would do it on Autodesk Inventor 11, please help.

Assuming there are two origin work planes going the length of the cylinder through the centre, select work plane, click one of
the origin work planes and then click the outside of the cylinder. Now select Sketch and click the work plane you created.

Easy one this. Ensure the cylinder you want to drill is based around the origin. Expand the origin folder and turn on the visibility of the groundplane that is perpendicular to the hole you want to create.
Click new work plane tool, then click the visible ground plane, then click a point on the exterior surface of the cylinder.
You then have a user defined workplane tangent to your cylinder's surface. Start a new sketch, click your tangent workplane. You can then project any geometry through, create a point, constrain and dimension the point exit the sketch and then hit the hole command.
Check the help for work plane reference and see "Work plane tangent to a cylinder"
