Friday pictures 4-13-'18

Exhaust_banner.png

Hey everyone, it's the Friday after the forum redesign!

And yup, it's the 13th Smiley LOL

Because of the changes i've opted for a transparent banner, not sure what the new width of posts is and if it'll stay the same with changes still being made...

Anyway, this is a picture topic so...

I made a fun, easy model this week of a flexible exhaust that we couldn't get a model off from the supplier.

Here's what it looks like raytraced in Inventor:

And this is what i turned it into with some more detailed texturing in 3DS Max:

I think i came pretty close to a photorealistic rendering again, so pretty happy about it. Smiley Very Happy

Share your work and let everyone enjoy the stuff we all create with Inventor!

Have a nice weekend.

Thanks @admaiora !

Hmm... can't post extra images and the @mention doesn't seem to work either... Redesign bugs i guess...

---edit---

Well, upon editing my post i get all the controls again... so here's an extra animation i made.

Did it for fun because of a post over on the 3DS Max forum about animating a sun positioner.

That's some amazing texturing there niels! I can't seem to locate the 'insert' button for adding an image to a post so have to add as an attachment the image is done in inventor rendering environment. Wish I had the time to do a proper job in 3ds max.

Edit: I have the toolbar to do this on a post edit only.

neils: Did you model the weave or is it a material with bump/displacement?

Weave is a texture with displacement and bump. Smiley Wink
Modeling that would be quite a challenge, i think...
For our purposes a simple model is more then enough, we don't produce these so...

Happy Friday!! Thought I would share a project the kids and I are working on for our bonus room. We are making a desktop arcade cabinet with a Raspberry Pi 3, computer monitor and buttons/joysticks we purchased on Amazon. We have it all modeled in Inventor and getting ready to nest all the parts with the Nesting Utility and milling it with Inventor HSM. I like Fusion 360 rendering so we opened it through AnyCAD, applied materials and decals and did a quick rendering to see what it will look like. Almost there!!

Jef_E, it's actually a gearbox by Pinion.eu. It removes the need for a rear derailleur, which are responsible for countless unfinished races and long walks back from a ride when a jockey wheel goes missing, or when the mech gets smashed off by rocks/trees. It also keeps all the grime out of the gear system, something bikes have needed for a long time. You'll see them a lot more in the next couple of years as the big brands slowly catch up to it all.
