Create flat pattern of tank assembly

I have a model of a storage tank that I am currently detailing. I would like a view on the drawing of the tank unrolled so I can dimension heights of all nozzles and supports on a single view. (basically I want a view like a flat pattern of a rolled sheet metal part, but as an assembly).

Does anyone know if this is possible? Any thoughts or work-arounds to achieve this?

Yes, if done properly this is possible.  Not sure correct solution would be called a "work-around".

how can this be done please?

I want to learn how to do that. Each time I have to do shell development I have to draw the strakes myself and the nozzles' cut outs and when some positions change, I have to re modify it by myself.

It is time consuming and there is a risk of error as well associated also. Thanks. Looking forward to your reply.
