Complex part fixture/holder

Hi all

I am struggling to create a very accurate fixture/holder for quite a complex part. Please see below:

What I would like to achieve is to make this part lay flat on perfectly fitted holder/fixture and then attache some clamps to hold it in position. Can any one point me into the right direction, please? Thank a lot for any help.

Hi!

I would use a new file and derive the complex part to this new file.
Then create the support using the derived geometry as reference.
Finally, i would create an assembly with both model and support and apply the clamps.

Just for reference, I would like to modify the existing one which is not very well made, see the photo below:

So the green base is fixed to the plate. Everything above that can be replaced.

File to the part attached. Thank you.

First decide where on the part surface you want contact.

Do you want/need contact pad to be same (machined) as the surface?  Or ball contact?

I want it to be the same, to fit like a glove I would say. Thank you.

Make "long" pads and use the part to cut the assembly.

All pads need to be installed on fixture and machine together.
