Could not Insert Object - .pdf into .dwg

Workflow in the .dwg is this: I click - \Manage\Insert Object\Create from file...then I browse to the .pdf file, click on it to insert it, but instead I get this (screenshot  below).

Any thoughts on this one?...all my stuff is updated.

Hi Mitchell,

This workflow is called inserting OLE objects. Does the error happen only to PDF files or any file (like a Word doc)? This issue seemed to come and go in the past. It seems to be related to certain privilege. Does it work if you run Inventor as Admin? If you perform the same Insert Object workflow in Excel, does it work?

Many thanks!

Hello Johnson, it's only the .pdf files that don't work (word & excel are fine); I tried Inventor as admin also...no luck.

Johnson...OK, I see what you're saying about trying it in the Excel program. I get this for .pdf files (other file types work fine there also; BTW-Adobe Acrobat Pro is set to be the default program for .pdf files):
