Check out via File Status not working

Hello there

I set up Inventor on my PC recently. I am uing Inventor 2023.4 and set up a project file as a shared type.

Yesterday I was able to check out files via the file status and use this feature in the way I am used to. Without (atleast without me noticing) changing anything this feature stopped working. The file status is still there but there is no green or red symbol next to it showing me the checkout status of the file nor can I edit the Iproperties or save changes in general.

I compared my settings to a different system I use at a different subsidary of our company it is just working fine there. I saved the files in the stated project files location so that is not the issue.

When trying to check out the only option I get is "update status" which is not doing anything at all.

This happens to existing files which were checked out yesterday and new files no matter with which template they were created.

One assembly It worked for yesterday has no checkout state as well but when I look at the sub parts some of the parts are getting shown as not checked out (red state). When I right click on them I can select "resolve" which gves me the message linked below. Creating a checkout does not work. On the screenshot you can also see the assembly that does have a status at all.

Edit: When I now create a new part and save it it is shown as checked out. WHen I close the file and reopen it the check out state disappears and I cant check it out anymore.

Is this project file on a network drive or OneDrive? Try replacing your project/IPJ file with a copy from the other systems that have no issue. Show us a screenshot of the project settings if possible, and in particular the workgroup search paths and workspace path for it. Try saving a new file in your local disk and on the root of your active project's workspace and see if it behaves as expected.
Maybe just an Inventor reset can fix it, or if you have the time, try a reinstall.

Hi! If possible, please create a simple Pack&Go Inventor files (including ipj). I would like to understand the shared project behavior better.

Many thanks!

Hey there,

I'm having a real headache with Inventor! I just set it up and was using the checkout feature fine, but now it's completely stopped working. It's like it's forgotten how to do it!

I've tried everything I can think of, but nothing's working. It's super frustrating because I can't edit or save any files properly.

regards sassa

Hi! I am aware of an issue that File Status browser panel can be missing on restart in Windows 11. But your description does not sound the same. Please share a video showing the behavior or send the files that exhibit the behavior to me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand why Shared Project isn't working for you.

Many thanks!
