3D line with the same offset in each point from the edge of the spigot

Hello,

I'm trying to draw 3d line on cylindrical surface which can be easily made by a chamfer tool (see below - dark green line).

Distance between cutting line and the dark green line is the same in each point.

The problem is that I don't want to make a chamfer. I only need a 3d sketch or a surface tangential to the bigger pipe.

I also tried to make it by "wrap to surface" but the outcome isn't satisfying:

Blue line is made by a chamfer tool and yellow by curve to surface projection.

Any ideas how to make the blue line as a 3d sketch without chamfering ?

Hi fdcsaz,

One method would be to create the Chamfer, project it into a 3D Sketch, then use the Delete Face tool with the Heal option.

Thank you Curtis_Wagues... Your method is ok, but requires few additional features especialy when I have main pipe and junction pipe as a separate bodies (I have to do this on surface objects).

Thank you blandb, but I still don't have Inventor 2016 so I am not able to open your files. I will check them soon.

I think that there should be some feature implemented in future version of inventor which will help with such an issue. Some kind of offset on 3d surface.
