How old is your computer?
It must be a very very old computer if it has a 32-bit OS.
Inventor 2015 was the last version that ran on 32-bit OS, so that is what you need to download.
You can get it from the Autodesk Student Community or from the Autodesk Virtual Agent.
You will need to get your student Serial Number for 2015 from the Student Community.
If your school is using a later release (which it should be as Inventor is free to schools) - you will not be able to open files created at school in later release in your 2015 release. But you can go from 2015 to later.
Install with UAC and anti-virus temporarily disabled.
I recommend running for at least a couple of weeks in 30-day Trial mode before Activating your free student license.
After installation, also download the Service Packs and Updates.
But let's take this step-by-step.
Go to your System Properties and verify that you are in fact running 32-bit version of Windows 7.
Verify that you have in fact downloaded the 32-bit installer for Inventor.
