Unable to Install AutoCAD

Uninstalled AutoCAD 2015 because I wanted the upgraded version 2017. Now, unfortunately I can't install AutoCAD 2017, nor any other versions.

Can anyone please help. I have Windows 8.1, 64-bit, 4GB RAM.

Thank you,

L.B.

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

>> I can't install AutoCAD 2017, nor any other versions.

If you can tell us a little bit more than "I can't install" we might be able how to help you.

But we know nothing about what happens on your system, what you have tried, what the result was, what messages you have got, ...

Thank you for your reply.

xxx-xxxxxxxx/xxxxx

Well, unfortunately Windows 10 was not working properly, with my current
version of AutoCAD 2015. So, I uninstalled both AutoCAD & Windows 10
update. I now have Windows 8.1, 64-bit, back to the same OS I had
before. However, when I attempt to install AutoCAD2015, the installation
window r states "installation successful completed", please restart your
computer now. I restart the computer, and nothing. No indication the
installation process was ever completed. I do not see the short-cut icon
for AutoCAD & when I attempt to open the software in Program files tab, the
folders are empty.

Is there a way I can fix this?

Again, thank you for your response.

Many thanks,

Lourdes

Hi,

>> the installation window r states "installation successful completed"

Can you describe this please, what does you show "installation successful completed"? The only one which can show that is the AutoCAD installer and nothing else.

>> the folders are empty

If there is no desktop icon and also no ACAD.EXE file in the applications folder then the installation was not successful.

Try to find a log file (that is by default in the windows temp folder) and upload that file.

Do you find "AutoCAD 2015" in the list of installed software within the control panel ==> program & features?

*(1) AutoCAD installer was the one that showed me the complete installation*

*(3) Autodesk BIM 360 Glue AutoCAD 2015 Add-in 64 bit, is the one file I
found under the programs & features. *

...but not AutoCAD 2015 itself? Is AutoCAD in the list of "programs & features" or not?

Could it be possible that you just installed a plugin, but not AutoCAD itself (can you show us the link from where you started the installation)?

Well, the log file from AutoCAD installation will show it to us.

(1) Specify on the name of log file?

(2) AutoCAD is not under the list of programs

I would like to thank you for all your help.

@Alfred.NESWADBA is referring to a file within your C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Local\Temp directory name Autodesk AutoCAD 2017 - Setup.log

Post it to this thread so we can further assist you.

Hi,

>> AutoCAD is not under the list of programs

Can you show us the link from where you started the installation of AutoCAD 2015?

When you restart the installation, do you get the info that this product is already installed?

If not and the product runs the installation again, please create a screenshot from the final dialog with the message, that the installation finished successfully and upload the screenshot (just to know which product(s) are listed in this dialog).

@Darin.Green

Thx for posting the folder of the typical temp-folder location, just to add one info: If you enter

%TEMP%

into the address line of the Windows Explorer you land in the users temp-folder automatically, even if it's replaced to another position (which is possible and sometimes done).

Can you show us the link from where you started the installation of AutoCAD
2015?

(1) http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/autocad

The link above, I would click and login my account, then I would install
the software. I had AutoCAD2015 installed before in my computer (I think
you can check that) but after installing Windows 10 upgrade, most of all my
software were not working properly. I then uninstalled both AutoCad2015,
and Windows 10 upgrade. Now, I'm just trying to re-install AutoCAD2015. I'm
no longer interested in your newest versions, I just want AutoCAD2015.
properly working in my computer, that's all.

When you restart the installation, do you get the info that this product is
already installed?

(2) Once I restart my computer, after the installation process is complete
the installation process no longer proceeds. No info stating that the
product is already installed. I don't have a screen shots of the
installation, unless you want me to attempt to reinstall the software.

If not and the product runs the installation again, please create a
screenshot from the final dialog with the message, that the installation
finished successfully and upload the screenshot (just to know which
product(s) are listed in this dialog).

(3) Do you want me to attempt to reinstall the product? Will my product key
still work?

Hi,

>> I just want AutoCAD2015 properly working in my computer,

Why have you then updated to Windows 10?

AutoCAD 2015 is not designed to run on Windows 10, you might get it working, but the risk is high that it's not working without issues.

>> I'm no longer interested in your newest versions

You know that we (the ones helping here) are not Autodesk? So it's not "our new version" we are discussing here.

Download AutoCAD 2015 setup media from Autodesk Virtual Agent >>>click<<< and when the files are downloaded successfully start the installation from that local file(s).

Good luck, - alfred -

@Anonymous

At this point you will need to run Microsoft Fixit to resolve this
