Greetings.
Im trying to install AutoCAD 2018 on my PC (Windows 10, x64, Net Framework 4.6.1, etc...)
I have already tried to deactivate Windows Defender to install the program
I can't run AutoCAD Self Extract.
It opens, however the app suddenly closes without filling anything of the progress bar
I have already tried to solve this issue seeking information at "google".
Please, if anyone knows how to solve this it would be great.
Thanks
Gian

You can try and rename the file from sfx.exe to sfx.zip and extract manually.
See if that works before installing.
You might also check the downloaded file, It might be 'blocked' (look at the properties)

Morning.
I tried your suggestions.
1) After I changed the ".exe" file to ".zip", I tried to Extract in the same folder and the file became useless (WinZIP couldn't extract, error message)
2) I checked file properties and it is not blocked
😞
If you have anything else more to suggest, it would be great
Thanks a lot

Morning.
I checked system requirements as suggested, everything is ok and updated.
I have also downloaded files again (from different browsers, i.e., chrome and firefox) and it didn't work
Please if you have more advices, it would be great.
Thanks

I was thinking about if there is a way to Download all AutoCAD files from another source (without being zipped or compacted).
I do not care if the download would be 10gb or more.
So i wouldn't need to extract the files.
It would be a new attempt

Evening.
I followed all steps (download again, steps 1- 4).
The same error occurs: the autodesk self extract suddenly closes and the progress bar doesn't fill.
I have to mention that i have already successfully installed AutoCAD 2018 at home PC, no error ocurried.
Now I'm trying to do the same at work PC, and the error occurs.

@Anonymous
Try the following:
1. Disable anti-virus.. Your application may be blocking the extraction.
2. Make sure your designation (when extraction) is set to a local drive
3. Unplug/disconnect from the network/internet
4. Right mouse click on the unpacked file and run as administrator
5. Make sure the unpacked files are local and not sitting on a netowrk.
6. Make sure you have enough disk space.
7. Lastly share the file sizes of the downloaded files from the Virtual Agent.

Greetings.
I tried your suggestions, followed all steps and nothing
Here are the files that i have already downloaded.
I successfully installed AutoCAD using self-extract on my home PC (same operating system, same windows)
However, on this machine things are not working...
If you have more suggestions or solutions do point, please share with me.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me with this issue.
I found out what was the problem, so here it goes:
[...]
I did everything i could so i finished install with some gaps
However, when i try to launch AutoCAD, it doesn't run and some messages appears showing that some files are missing.
Finally, I discovered that those files are bonded with Microsoft Visual C++ Packs
My computer doesn't have Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages
I tried to install all packages (2005-2015) but a new error appears:
0x800b0001 : Unknown trust provider
[...]
Conclusions: AutoCAD files are all OK! The problem is my computer >.<
I have to reinstall Windows 10, then try installing AutoCAD again.

Hi,
This is a old post, but i think it will help some people with the same problem.
Try just to rename the file, and delete the .sfx. Let the file just with the .exe in the end.

Windows 10, i5. Acad 2017 64bit. Same problem, I run the file, it asks where to install to, click ok and it just disappears. No file copied. No error messages. I have installed from same file on my win 7 pc. I checked again and file will open on that so it’s an Windows 10 issue. Funnily the 32bit will open and run but then say ‘you need to install the 64bit!’ Any good answers found? Have tried all I can find on web.

Hi @Anonymous
Self-extract not running is often a symptom of corrupted/missing Visual C++ components.
First off, make sure your Windows is completely up to date. Click Start > type updates > hit ENTER.
Any missing update will be shown here, click "Check for updates" to double-check.
If that does not help, try to uninstall and reinstall all the Visual C++ packages.

Hi,
Please go to any of your disk drives other than the system drive (suppose your OS is installed in C drive and you have more than 15 gb space vacant in D drive) create a folder name "Autodesk" then right click on the file and select "Run as Administrator" and in the dialog box change the destination of extraction (from "C/Autodesk" change it to "D/Autodesk"), wait 5-6 minutes ..... the extraction & installation should begin.
thanks

It worked for me.
I just renamed the installer to something else (DWG.exe) and the installation was successful.
