Reinstalling a downloaded copy of AutoCAD 2010 on another computer

I've had Acad 2010 and windows 7 ultimate on my computer for years.  Microsoft forced me to upgrade to Windows 10.  When that happened Acad quit working.  I contacted Microsoft: and 8 of their techs over a 3 day period could not fix the problem so they rolled the OS back to windows 7.  Acad still would not work, so they uninstalled it.  They tried to reinstall, but Autocad will not install.  They went thru my files and deleted all acad components and tried again.  The setup log says "

2016/3/25:11:32:04       Owner         OWNER-PC         === Setup started on OWNER-PC by Owner ===

2016/3/25:11:32:34       Owner         OWNER-PC         === Setup started on OWNER-PC by Owner ===

2016/3/25:11:32:45       Owner         OWNER-PC         === Setup ended ===

2016/3/25:11:36:48       Owner         OWNER-PC         Install         DirectX 9.0 Runtime          Succeeded

2016/3/25:11:51:29       Owner         OWNER-PC         Install         AutoCAD 2010          Succeeded

2016/3/25:11:51:33       Owner         OWNER-PC         Install         AutoCAD 2010 Language Pack - English      Failed          Installation aborted, Result=1624

2016/3/25:11:52:05       Owner         OWNER-PC         Rollback     AutoCAD 2010          Succeeded"

Autodesk will not help.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Hello carnyman and welcome to the Autodesk community!

It looks like you are stuck at the activation/installation step while attempting to download software, or are having problems with starting your software immediately after installing. The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:

In order to manually activate your software (in cases where the activation appears stuck), please refer to Manually Activating Your Autodesk Software.

If the activation window is not displayed, others have resolved this by completely uninstalling and reinstalling their software. Please refer to How to Remove all Software from a Windows System for assistance.

@Anonymous  You may want to start here since your installation is failing on installing the language pack.  Im also tagging @TravisNave to see if he has any other ideas.

I did everything and it still did not work.  It looks to me like the projram installs until it gets to the language pack before it fails.  Then it says it rolled back.  Roled back to what?  Why won't the language pack install.

Rollback is self explanatory...in easy words: It went back to where it started. Upgrading a system and rolling back or restoring to a previous point doesn't really always work. The damage which already occured (example: in the registery) a restore or rollback doesn't really fix it. This applies to all software (OS as well). With all due respect; the expert who resored your PC back to widows 7 (after it was upgrades to 10) if he said there solved! and your PC is back as before ... is DUMB! (Don't go back to him if thats what he said)

Read this FORUM POST _ LANGUAGE PACK ERROR 1602 - If you are not familiar with backing up and cleaning the registery. You'd better pass this on to the experts! who were working on your computer.

I cannot find a "C:\WINDOWS\Installer " directory and the search function in IE can't either.

It was a Microsoft tech that said it was fixed.  A level two technician is supposed to work on it Sunday.  I'll document everything you and others suggest as repairs and pass it to him.

I had no choice on switching to Win 10.  Several times a request to upgrade popped up and I deleted them, but one finally popped up that gave me no choice.  Task manager could not get rid of it.  It would pop up again periodically and one time it automatically started the update after clicking the X.

In my signature there is a link to Microsoft Fixit (Win 7/8.1) or the Windows Cleanup utiity (Win 10).   Run them based on your OS and look for any left over Autodesk products.   You may find the AutoCAD 2010 language pack still being listed as an installed application ..  If its there remove it and then try your installation again.

The upgrade to Windows 10 probably hosed you pretty good.  Rollback was a good idea but I am also not sure if there is a System restore back to even before that happen.

In the mean-time, you can try this fix from the Up & Ready blog guys.  It's an oldie from that era of software, so it might help you.

Good Luck!

After a lot of work I was able to reinstall windows 7.  Then I was able to install fixit and that allowed me to reinsr=tall AutoCAD 2012.  Thanks for your help.

I have some configuration issues now.  The linework is almost as dark as the background.   How do I fix that?

I had custom linetypes and layouts of how icons appeared.  I think I have everything backed up to an external drive, but the lin, pgp and cuix files I had are not reflecting the settings that I had.

Have you tried a CUILOAD to load your old customizations?
