Network License File update and borrowed license

Our Network License file for BDSP is currently running at version 2014 (and previous version 2013, 2012, & 2011).  We would like to update our license file to 2016 which woudl update our previous versions to 2015, 2014, & 2013 (and we would no longer be able to run 2012 & 2011).  Our issue is that we currently have a user that has a borrowed license for AutoCAD 2011. If we update our license file to 2016 without first returning that 2011 license first, will it cause any problems?  Or will that user just be able to return the license normally even though that version is no longer supported by the license file?

Welcome to the community...

I think the new license will not even establish that 2011 license as being borrowed but not 100% sure ( @TravisNave may have a better answer to it).  My advice return the license before the switch.   In addition in case you didn't know..  Your license manager must be at version 11.12 or 11.12.1.4 for the new license to work.

Thanks for the info on the newer version as well, I hadn't gotten that far yet but we will definitely have to update our license manager.

As far as that license, the user is out on leave right now so we were wanting to try to do the update without returning the license first ,. but we may just have the user come in and return the license to avoid any potential issues.

That is correct. The server will "forget" the borrow status and the
license will not be able to be returned from the client afterwards. Be
sure to return it before upgrading.
