Change License Server Inventor 2021

I installed Inventor 2021 as a trial. Now that I updated the license server, I tried to activate the software, but I think I misspelled the server name or got the wrong syntax because Inventor says there are no licenses available. How can I change the name of the server? Each time I try to activate it, it just says there are no licenses. I found some posts on the subject but they were for AutoCAD.

Thanks Darren, I tried that already, and I get this screen.

Inv License.png

Each time I choose "Use a network license", it just pops an error dialog. I don't get the chance to specify the server.

I added it but it didn't help. I found the lic file and renamed it, but when I restarted Inv, it recreated the lic file with the wrong path. I searched the registry but it didn't find any key with the wrong path. I also verified lmtools that the server has the licenses installed. The main problem still is that I can't change the license type in the software.

I did another test on my laptop. I installed IV and used the correct path to the server and I get the same error message. How can I find out if the license is working properly?

It lists them, so I don't know why it's not working. Initially I use the server's fqdn, but I see in AutoCAD it's just using the server name "licensing", no port number. On my laptop I followed Adesk's directions and used "27000@licensing" as it shows in lmtools, but it could be that name is wrong too. I know it works in AutoCAD without the port number, but unfortunately, I can't change it on my laptop either. Stuck...

Is there any client that can get a license from the server? If no, there might be a firewall issue. Ports 2080 and 27000-27009 needs to be open

Try these strings in an Internet browser from the client:

http://<yourlicenseserver>:2080 and  http://<yourlicenseserver>:27000

Both should give a string in response:

Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60

Use Internet Explorer, it returns this, but Chrome & Edge gives ERR_INVALID_HTTP_RESPONSE

Firefox gives this response:

Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60

If the response isn't like one of the above this the ports need to be opened in the license server.

thanks for replying, but that's not the problem. As I mentioned, other 2018 apps work, just not IV 2021. I can get server info from lmtools on my pc.

Ok, what version of lmgrd.exe and and adskflex.exe do you have? For 2021 licenses you need 11.16.2.0

Yes, that's what Darren suggested. I've asked IT to check on it. Thanks.
