Cannot create deployment Revit 2021

Hi guys,

I am trying to create a deployment for Revit to be installed through SCCM. I just downloaded Revit 2021 and it came with 6 different files, I ran the executable to combine those into an installation file with setup.exe. I then run the Setup.exe to try to create deployment as I have done with AutoCAD, Inventor and Architecture. But, after running Setup.exe, it does not give me the option to create deployment, all I could do is a normal install as if I was going to install into that one particular machine. Have you guys seen run into anything like this with Revit 2021? or know a way to create deployment for Revit 2021?

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Nhan

Hi Srinivas,

Thank you for your response, unfortunately, the deployment option from the portal did not work, installation did not complete. Do you know why Revit 2021 doesn't have the "Create deployment" option when I run Setup.exe?

Thank you,

Nhan

The full installer for Revit 2021.1 uses a different installation process, know as Autodesk On-Demand Installation Services (ODIS), that uses an online deployment creation option, which is a function available in the Autodesk Accounts portal. If you are experiencing problems with deployments created through the Autodesk Accounts portal, please post details about the failure. Install log files are helpful and can be found in the C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\ODIS folder.

Nhan,

Yesterday we release Revit 2021.1, which replaces the original Revit 2021 version within Autodesk Accounts and Autodesk Desktop App.  As Tony mentioned, Revit 2021.1 brings a new workflow for deployment creation via Autodesk Accounts.  While we would like to understand more about your experience, if you are truly blocked the original Revit 2021 version is available through ava.autodesk.com for direct download.

We look forward to your feedback,

Thank you Tony and Gerry for your responses.

I have attached the install log for the failed installed using deployment from the portal. My apologies, I tried looking through it to find some clues but I don't understand it at all.

@huotgeras far as my original issue with Revit 2021, as I mentioned in the first post, when I run Setup.exe for AutoCAD, Inventor, or Architecture 2021, I have see the option to create deployment as in the screenshot below

nguyenndSQN7Y_0-1595514294509.png

But when I run Setup.exe for Revit 2021, after I accept the license and service agreement here's what I got:

nguyenndSQN7Y_1-1595514365282.png

I was thinking that it would give me the option to create deployment as with other Autodesk products, but from what you and Tony were saying, that method is not available in 2021 anymore, and the only way to create a deployment is from the portal. Am I understanding you correctly?

Thank you again for all your help!

Nhan,

Correct the new Installer with Revit 2021 does not support offline deployment image configuration, this activity is now provided by the Deployment section within Autodesk Accounts.

Hi,

I am still having difficulty installing Revit after creating a new deployment on the portal. Attached are the install and deployment log files of the failed install, would you please help me troubleshoot the issue?

Thank you,

Do you have instruction for Network Deployment with SCCM for this new deployment type ?

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/network-license-administration/network-deployment/mi...

I used these for install and deployment for Revit 2020 and that worked fine. But I guess they don't work anymore.

Example: Command line, there is no SMS_SCCM_Scripts folder

Full documentation of the new deployment creation workflow is being finalized and should be available online in the near future.  This should include coverage of using Microsoft Configuration Manager to deploy and manage Autodesk products.

Just looked to your install.log file. You run into an error at rvt.msi at the custom action:

licIsSvcUpgraded

This is a frequent error and I recommend to install the latest version of the Autodesk license service before the install or substitute the license service in the deployment with the newest version.

regards

Is there a way to do a silent pushed deployment of 2021?  I have been testing using similar says that I have done with previous versions and can't seem to get it to install at all.

Am I going to have to manually go to 100 machines and install it myself?  I have downloaded the Deployment package from the web site, but all attempts at running it silent have not worked.

This topic was discussed in this thread and the answer was to use "--silent" to ensure a silent installation from a deployment.

Did this ever get resolved?  I also need to build a network installer.  Autodesk screwed up my online account and they don't seem to know how to fix it.  Only one person has the ability to download the installers now and he isn't going to make the deployment online and do all that nonsense.  We need the old functionality back.  There seems to be 0 benefit and only frustration with the new way.  Do you have a separate tool we can download somewhere to build a network deployment for Revit 2021?

We have switched to named user subscriptions.  In the deployment configuration, there is no option for creating a deployment that is authorized by the user's Autodesk account.  The only options are to create serial number based licenses or network.  How can I create a named user deployment?

urrgh, that is ugly and ridiculous that you cant just specify user on first time run.

The whole deployment process seems to of taken a step backward certainly in terms of actually working.
