Autodesk Network License Manager 2016

I am currently working on a major technology upgrade project.  We have around 15 AutoCAD users and they are using NLM which currently co-exists on a legacy print server.  However I wish to install the latest NLM software on the same server as our Microsoft KMS services but am unable to find any detail / white papers.  I expect it to work as I have installed FlexLM based licensing on KMS/RDS servers before but it would be nice to know if anybody else has this in place and any issues encountered.  Better still would be a response from AutoDesk support with a Tech.Note explaining the steps needing to be taken so I can present it to my client and save them money (the supplier has quoted around $30K to provide dedicated servers (LIVE and TEST))

First this is a peer to peer network where users are assisting other users.  Although Autodesk does monitor these forums, it doesn't mean they will see and/or respond to your posting.. 

Second I'm not a server expert but I will tag 2 individuals that will more definitely assist you in answering your questions.  Paging @Darin.Green and @TravisNave

Next just for a clarification..  Its not the Autodesk Network License Manager 2016 version anymore.  If you generated a license file today you would need version 11.13.1.2 (version 2017).  Not sure when this project is going to be implemented, but in a few weeks its most likely going to be another version of the license manager since we are near that time of year when Autodesk releases the next version of their application.

Ian, it doesn't matter if the NLM is on a printserver, AD server, KMS
server, or an Exchange server. So long as the NLM is installed on a local
server, eithet physical or virtual, and can be accessed on the LAN or VPN,
then it will work.

If you move the NLM, you will need a new .lic file from Autodesk or your
VAR. And as Mark said, 2018 is the next version, so it's more likely that
you'll want to use its NLM for maximum compatibility. It's not required
but it's recommended, especially if you consider upgrading.

Thank you - the 2016 was a typo.  It would be the latest version I expect to deploy subject to it supporting earlier versions as we migrate users.

My previous experience of FlexLM / FlexNET is via Citrix Licensing and that never had a problem but I just wanted to run it by a couple of people on here.

Sounds good.  I can't imagine you will run into much trouble.  The NLM will run on just about everything.  I've even said that you can get it to run on an Etch-a-Sketch!
