3ds Max 2019 not starting

Double click the 3ds Max icon and i get a loading cursor for a slight second and then nothing. No splash and not in Task Manager either.

Have not had any problems using max over the last few months. Recent changes a day prior include replacing GPU and updating motherboard.

I have reinstalled max twice now, one of those times I completely wiped anything related to Autodesk and followed the Autodesk guide on a clean install.

My next option is most likely a reformat at this stage.

If anyone has come across this issue and has a fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Since you have replaced the gpu have you got the correct and up-to-date drivers for it?

Hello @koljohnkiri

Welcome to the community!

I would suggest that you update your graphic card driver, install all available Windows Updates, and install any Autodesk updates that are available in the Desktop App.

Sorry for the late reply, I did the uninstall again including removing all files, though this time I removed Autodesk from registry and all is well.

Thanks for replies!

So I uninstalled everything Autodesk related and removed Autodesk from Registry as well as any Autodesk related files. Reinstalled and worked fine.

2 days later it is once again not working. I did install a program yesterday which said something was missing from the visual C++ redist (at least something along those lines) and it installed something. So i think this whole problem is related to the C++ Redist.

Now ive followed the C++ Redist removal and re installation guide as well and that did nothing.

Okay, this is embarrassing, I had updated just about everything but windows main update, so I have been using a build which dates a few months old. I have no idea how I missed this and feel quite stupid considering the extent I went to.

Problem solved.

Happy to know it is fixed, it is the little, unexpected things that catch us out..
