dynamechtronics post processor

i recently aquired a dyna mechtronics DM3000 lathe in working order. i am able to send files the lathe through a dnc program and i have fusion 360. i would like to be able to post programs in the dyna mechtronics code native to the machine. the machine interface displays single lines with 16 characters, 4 taken up by the line number and the following space. there are rumors it can take g-code like some dynamechtronics mills but i doubt it, maybe with a firmware reflash. i was drawn to this forum when i found a post https://camforum.autodesk.com/index.php?topic=2372.0 where a member hai cao shared a post for a dyna mill in the dyna language. i don't know if this service is available to users of fusion 360 but any guidance or help from forum members would be appreciated.

i'm still looking for an online copy of the manual or i may have the programming pages scanned and post them up within a few days.

Hi Dan,

Unfortunately, we don't have dyna mechtronics DM3000 lathe post.  Please upload the programming manual so that we can develop a post processor for your machine.  Thank you for using AutodeskCAM

Have a read here: https://camforum.autodesk.com/index.php?topic=6138.0

In short the game is do it yourself(With Autodesk and forum member help) and cheap, or pay for it and have it fast.

thanks ...BUT Hai Cao indicated that they would develop the post for the mahine so we can use the software Fusion 360. It now has been just over one month.

Bobcad has a post that works with software they have as well as master cam had one for v9.

It would be easier to just to use that software and leave Fusion 360 alone then spend a huge amount of time learning how to build my own and or pay HSMworks a huge amount of money to make one...SMH

I like Fusion 360 and would rather use the software and get on board with it as well with my other cnc machines (Haas mills) but i do not wish or desire to have different software for different machines in my shop...we are currently bobcad users....but that will change if a post becomes available for the DM3000.

Well, with the money you save on not buying mastercam and using fusion360 I think you can pay for the edit.
Or of course invest a little time yourself, that's what I did when we bought HSMWorks.

But on the other hand you can demand what you want. That's your right.

Since you changed your post I'll update mine.
I understand that you would like a post processor, and every new customer is nice but please also understand that this is not something that is usually something that is done for free. And sorry to say this but the user base is not extremely big, and there are other things that need to be done as well.

So I understand your point that Hai said he would make a post for this. I think this one is seriously more complicated than he thought and it would be, so it's something Achim has to do and that is a very busy man. So while I'm pretty sure it's on the list it's probably not at the top.

thanks for the explanation and update. yes the language is "different" and i understand that fixing a post is a lot easier than scratch writing one and "most" machines use very similar g codes with small variances in syntax or command names so a generic post can be used as a template for a new one in most cases.  i was hopeful when i found the dynamyte mill post but i understand that lathe canned cycles are much trickier than mill canned cycles which are usually one line then a an array of points for drill or tap holes. and i know its particularly bad when they work differently from what is conventional.

Dan, perhaps it would be good to share the DM3000 post that we've been working on in the cnczone thread here to just ask the Autodesk CAM guys to help clean up the rough edges? 🙂
