Fusion 360 for iPad Pro users

I have seen a couple of YouTube makers shows and noticed that they were using fusion 360 as well as Sketchup. I primarily use an iPad Pro and sketchup is not compatible. I am wondering if fusion 360 is compatible with the iPad format?

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 community! Right now, the iPad app is only meant to be a viewer and markup tool for already created models.

System requirements for Autodesk Fusion 360

Is there any chance that Fusion 360 will actually come to the iPad Pro in its full version? with the likes of Photoshop and Illustrator making the transition, I can only imagine that the new models can handle the software

Fusion 360 for iPad Pro would be a gamechanger.

The App Shapr3D runs on the iPad Pro smooth as butter. The pro Series of the iPad has enough power to easily handle this type of applications.

If a port for iOS would be available, Autodesk would definitely change the way of modeling for the future.

I would love to use it with my iPad Pro! Heart

The last iPadOS has mouse compatibility, it is a basic compatibility but it is possible via web browser to check the app and version (portable safari) and then, load a web browser editor compatible with the iPad os mouse or a tactile interface.

anyway, do you use fusion 360 web version in your tablets?

A web based version would be great. 3D mouse (view cube) could be replaced by finger inputs and mouse could be replaced by the Apple pencil.

Even if it's a stripped down version with access to the DESIGN workspace only would be amazing.

That way I can continue to work on ideas while i'm out.

Personally I wouldn't carry a mouse with me to use with my iPad. If I had to carry a mouse then i'd just take my laptop.

Just checking in 2 years later. I’m a grad student at a University. I do everything parametrically, and I do most of my own prototype fabrication. It is so handy to be able to adjust my entire model just by changing a few parameters, then exporting them as a .dwg or .gcode file. For example, the water jet runs off some shared computer that we aren’t allowed to install anything on (and probably couldn’t handle much). I used to use a 2013 MacBook Air 11,” And that worked great because I could just edit a design, export the .dwg in an email to myself and cut it on the water jet. It was extremely useful to be able to edit things on the fly while in the shop instead of having to run a few floors away to my desktop. Also I believe if my 2013 Mac could run it, today’s graphing calculators probably could. I know it is difficult, and quite an investment, but now the iPad with iPadOS and keyboard and mouse support is more capable than ever, and I think there could be a significant use case for it.

Am I missing something here? iPads now have mouse support & desktop safari browser so you guys should be able to use the Fusion 360 webapp.

I don't have an iPad but I've used the webapp on my Samsung Note 9 using DEX & a desktop browser app I got from the app store (that tricks websites into thinking I'm using a PC).

By addins, do you mean browser extensions? What does that have to do with
being able to use Fusion online?

You’re missing the fact that we want to use Fusion on iPad’s. Not just view files which is what the web app is for.

I would like a dedicated iPad app as well, but until that is released, you should see if you can access the aforementioned website (myhub.autodesk360.com) now that iPad has desktop safari. It has been up for over a couple years now & has most of the desktop features implemented. Checkout this YT video to see what I'm talking about.

I am thinking about getting an iPad soon so I wanted to see if this online version works for anyone here before I invest.

The web app is for viewing only. You cannot design anything there.

The YouTube link you posted didn’t work

Man you're talking about the APP (like the one you installed from Apple app store) & yes I know it sucks (bc you can only view stuff) but I'm talking about the WEB app, as in an application that you access in a web browser. I've used the web app to edit projects in the past, both on PC & Android (w/ a hacky PC browser app).

Sorry about the YT link, this one should work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43unMV38M9w&t=189s

And if you'd rather just read instead of watch (FYI the web app was called project leopard when it was beta): https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-design-validate/project-leopard-updates/td-p/6807753

Last time I tried the webapp with my iPad pro it was just useable for really small change.

It wasn’t optimized for the safari browser paired with touch.

Button layout, scrolling, etc. didn’t work very good or were missing because of the lack of optimization.

I will give it a try later this day..
