Joint drawing error in recent versions

I've noticed in recent versions (not sure when it started) that when I click on the name of a joint to drive it, the joint itself draws as a large blocky area rather than the normal thin lines and arrows. Seems to do this whenever the joint is not shown (eyeball icon is de-selected). When its visible, the joint draws properly. Here is a screen shot of what I am talking about, with the joint pointed at by a red arrow I added:

Over on the left side what I had done was right click on the second joint down, Joint Lever Revolute, and select 'drive joint'. If I do the same thing but first make that joint visible, it draws normally. I've noticed this especially if the joint was hidden in the saved project that I opened. Once its made visible, the problem seems to go away.

Hi @crueby1

Thanks for the detailed repro and screenshot. To chase this down we will need to reproduce. Could you please export and then upload a .f3d or .f3z (whichever matches how the assembly is built) that shows the issue, plus share your Fusion build from Help → About?

If the Fine is confidential, please share through DM.

Hi Sujay,

This happens on all my files that have the joints hidden, but with the 'relationships' folder shown. Here is the project that I used to create the example in the first post, it does this every time for me. Just open the project, open the list of joints, and mouse over and/or right click on one of the joints without changing the visibility - you will see the block like I showed. For reference, I am on the latest released Fusion (not insider), on Windows 11. If you need to know how I have any settings in the preferences just let me know.

The build: 2702.1.58 x86_64

So, have you been able to reproduce this problem using my file? Any news?

Hi @crueby1

I have gone through the attached dataset and was able to reproduce the issue. I have attached a video demonstrating the steps to resolve it.

Steps to resolve issue:

  • Perform “Compute All”.

  • Hover over the joint browser entry in the browser.

  • Observe that no box glyph appears for the specific joint.

Thanks,

Regards,

That only resolves it for that session. If you then save the file, close it, and reopen it, the bug is back again. Instead of the recompute all, if yuo make the joint visible and hide it again, you get the same temporary fix. This is not a resolution, the bug is still there.

Thank you for the detailed update on this issue.

I have rechecked it at my end and found that the issue is still reproducible. I have logged an internal defect, FUS-250199, to track the progress of this issue.
