Fusion freezing when trying to export an stl model

Updated to current version ( late Sept 2024 ) and running under OS win 10. Model exported as an stl file ok yesterday. Fusion kept freezing when attempting to resize a rectangular block today, but repositioned and it then resized ok. I then trimmed ( cut away ) two curves and the model won't now export as an stl file. Rebooted, logged out and then back in. Can save adjustments and export as an f3d file, but once I try to export as an stl file, Fusion just keeps freezing again and again.  I guess it's the adjusted model that's the issue, rather than a fusion issue. In the attached f3d file, body56 is the model I'm having the problem with.  Thanks.

No issues here, I simply selected the Body, in the Browser, right clicked and select Save as Mesh.  STL file is attached.

I've been exporting as an stl when Fusion hangs. I've now tried saving as a mesh ( format stl ) as you did ( with export selected ) but Fusion still hangs. It also hangs when I extend a simple cylinder face ( tried several times ). I can see it's going to be another re-installation of Fusion to correct all these issues.

Try using the Fusion Service Utility, Repair Option before you go to a full re-installation.

Repaired as suggested, but still same issues. I then started with a blank page and a new design, one simple cylinder which I then try to extend ( pulling one face up ), but Fusion still freezes. Is a reset the next option, or should I just uninstall ?

Sounds exactly like the issue several people are having here:

Thanks and it does mean Fusion team should be correcting with an update very soon. I'll try an uninstall / re-install in the meantime as it's almost un-usable. I can't even carry out basic tasks.

Removed from my system and re-installed which solved the issue.

I have recently had the same issue, I uninstalled, and reinstalled Fusion, but the issue still remains. I cannot export files as 3MF or either STL. the programme just hangs, then I have to clear via task manager, the only work around I found is to access the file via tinkercad and export from there. very long winded solution.

You are not the only one,

which is actually better. It means the problem in not at our end or individual and hopefully they will solve it soon.

I, too, am having the same issue with hanging. Each time it hangs I have to kill the process. After that I :

1. I start task manager and kill all Autodesk processes still running, then

2. check services to be sure no services are still running then

3. check firewall to be sure noting is reported as blocked then

4. Uninstall application and reinstall application (both of which are long burning tasks)

5. Reopen Fusion, rinse and repeat.

6. I have even tried the technique described above but it still seems to hang during rendering or some related process.

I have noticed the following:

1. Fusion seems to during rendering process,

2. Fusion will not let me create a new project or folder

3. It will only access the first "acme" project

3. I saved my project to this location then tried to export to stl format, killed the app, when I restarted it there was no sign of the saved model.

4. I repeated the above step but saved it to a location of my choosing on me computer but once again upon restarting there was no sign of the file in the chosen location.

5. I even did a search of the entire drive using File Explorer which turned up nothing

6. File Explorer did, however, find a copy of my model at the following location. The file name was preceded by an underscore (_) character. (location: C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\9FK2RVZNRZ2ZA7X9\W.login\F)

It is my experience that simply uninstalling and reinstalling is not sufficient to resolve this issue.

Has anyone considered the possibility that Autodesk no longer offers a full featured application for strictly personal use? It's possible what they now offer for free is a stripped down version that will export only a single sample of a file format. My copy won't export stl or obj or 3mf or any of the other formats after I exported a single file.

Just a thought.

I finally discovered that the problem is definitely on their end .I went off line the tried the export to stl and presto it worked just like is is supposed to.

Raj has just got back to me after having some time off, and asked that I run Microsoft's "processmonitor" and send him the logs it generates for Fusion. It will take a day or two as I've had to ask for further instructions. I tried your solution of coming offline then exporting and had high hopes, but my version still freezes as usual, so we obviously have slightly different issues. However I have run processmonitor and can see that the process "queryremote" shows it's an invalid parameter, and that's for every queryremote process under Fusion. Write process also have issues but are immediately run again and show as "success". The issues do seem to be connected with the transfer/server at their end, which could be down to the last but one update.

Same here, the only solution I have found is to save a shortcut for team
fusion for my Web browser, then export from here. I also have started using
onshape in conjunction with fusion. Not as easy to use but I might end up
needing to switch if this continues to happen.

Raj ( Fusion team member ) has just told me that they have received diagnostic logs from other users, so I don't need to submit mine. Other users have also contacted me, which tells me it's a problem affecting quite a few people now, so I presume we just have to wait for an update or a solution fix.
