Fusion 360 Takes a Long Time Exporting .stl Files

For some reason my .stl exporting now takes around 5-10 minutes to complete. I can't remember exact timing for the change over, but I was working on a big project 6 months ago and I would export files and watch the loading bar complete when I would export files. Has anyone else seen this issue?

thanks,

Just right click on a body and click save as STL, it saves it to your computer and is much faster.

Thank you for the info, it does work, but it's really stupid that the same goal takes different times to complete if you choose a different approach. It's exporting an stl file when you do it the regular way too, why does it take 5 minutes? Can't you just use the same method you're using for right click save as stl and use it when going file export stl!?!?!?! It's really stupid it's like this.

I can't find in the menu the option to export or save as...

Export is under the file tab at the top left of your screen or by right clicking the top level in the browser. To save as STL, right click on the body in the browser or the body itself.

Thanks just found in the browser, I could not find the save STL in the model itself.

does it take so long to export from the actual export function because its trying to do all the work on the cloud? My internet isnt always great but my PC is a beast so itd be nice if we could force export on our local machine

I notice is better to stop internet in the computer, so Fusion enters in offline mode and everything is faster.

Thanks so much for posting this, I have been dealing with really slow exports for over a year.  Finally fed up today I search and found this response.  One odd thing however - the very slow export from the file menu produces an export file (in my case - sample of one print model) well less than half the size of the much more speedy 'save as stl' output as described below.   Both however seem to render the same in Prusa slicer.

If it was just an offline program they couldn't data mine you for all you're worth (and charge paying customers by the month to make 10x as much money as they used to).

I had this same issue. 5 minutes to export a .stl when going the Export>.stl route. 3 seconds when right clicking the body and saving as stl. The only difference I could see was the 5 minute file was 300kb smaller.

I have the same problem with exporting any file in Autodesk fusion . it takes ages to export a very very simple file to any format.

it took almost 5 minutes to export a simple cube into dwg or dfx. this is very bad.

Yes same problem here, a cube takes 5 minutes to export in .STL, it's a shame, with my pc takes probably 2 seconds with every others CAD software.

Show Screencast recording.

Are you attempting to export via the data panel or directly via right click?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Where did you go?

Did you figure out how to export directly without going through the cloud?

When I watch your video, I realize that you must not have understood the first reply in this thread by @wmhazzard .

Right click on the Body and select Save As STL.  It is much much faster and gives you more options on quality.

I just tried that. I confirm that saving as STL file from right click menu on browser works fast.

So do you think there might be a problem with the export application?

Apparently Autodesk does not think it is a problem - it has been that way in Fusion for as long as I can remember.
