Fusion 360 Takes a Long Time Exporting .stl Files

For some reason my .stl exporting now takes around 5-10 minutes to complete. I can't remember exact timing for the change over, but I was working on a big project 6 months ago and I would export files and watch the loading bar complete when I would export files. Has anyone else seen this issue?

thanks,

Have anyone tried the "3D Print Plus/Pro" from the AutoCAD App Store?

It also creates a mesh for exporting to STL and gives you many options to customize the mesh data.

This also, runs on your system and is as fast as the "Save as STL" from a Body.

Interesting to know what is your findings?

Cheers!

Great thought, BUT, fusion will only export in .STL if you are online.

I just experimented with this. It depends on your Refinement selection. Medium is apparently what the File->Export->STL uses, but when you right-click on your body and export to .STL you have the option to set the Refinement to HIGH, which essentially doubles the size of the .STL file. I didn't experiment to see if one prints better than another.

Those who cannot find save as STL, choose save as Mesh then choose STL from the window opened.

So, this change was part of the latest Fusion 360 update?

Is Export to STL off-line will continue to be available in the future for non-commercial users?

Cheers!

After reading the updated features for the new release, I found that there
is a new exciting option to "SAVE AS MESH" to 3MF format!

Awesome!

I have a simple cylinder extrusion with an internal thread to act as a cap to a pipe and it won't export to STL - there appears to be no "export to STL" option in body menu (there is a export to Mesh).  And export pauses when in offline mode.

@darinhouston - can you share this design here?

I think it's a version thing - export to mesh now gives various options for stl etc.

Software changes over time.

Are you still having trouble, or did you resolve the issue?

when I export as stl, it takes ages to reach the end and it never finishes so I never have the file. If I save as STL it works but in the model I do not have additive supports. How to work around this? Additive supports should also be included in the model, am I wrong? Why aren't they?

I'm having the same issue.  Exporting to stl for simple parts used to take only a few seconds for me, but a couple weeks ago it suddenly jumped to 10 minutes for even the simplest parts!  I tested it with just a basic solid cube with no modifications, and it still took just over 8 minutes.  A month ago that would have been the next thing to instant.
