Fusion 360 sucks

Fusion 360 sucks flat out no other way around in.  Takes several minutes to load.  Crashes frequently, takes forever to preform tasks, won't preform tasks. It is a pile

Have you compared the price tag of Fusion 360 with the other software packages you mentioned?

While you educate yourself on pricing, don't forget that Fusion 360 includes a full-featured CAM package. YOu'll have to add that to NX or Solid Works.

In my 30 years of experience with numerous CAD systems, I've learned that price is a great expectation leveler 😉

Yes, that's right, but Autodesk does regularly raise the prices of their software. And if your drawings are parametrically in fusion360, it is difficult to switch to another package and you have to accept that your software will become more expensive. You also have no option to buy a permanent license.
There are also more features in Fusion360 that require you to buy cloud credits and I think this will only get worse in the future. (Then fusion360 is suddenly no longer so beneficial for (small) companies.

I also know someone who had a permanent old AutoCAD 2007 license. He was approached by an Autodesk seller who said that the license would soon stop working (which means that you cannot reactivate your license again), but the seller had an offer to exchange the perpetual license (with a discount) for a new AutoCAD license that is valid for 3 years. The customer indicated that he did not want this and simply wanted to keep the old license because he hardly used AutoCAD.But this was not possible.

Want some more bugs? Just the "morning news" I haven't even had lunch yet...

- Erratic behaviour in drawing sections. The hatching will appear or disappear by just moving the letter beside the section arrow. Also discussed here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-design-validate/drawing-section-view-will-not-hatch/td-p/9...

- Again help sketches cannot be bound to the geometry in drawing module. Even worse when used in a scaled view the dimensions are wrong. I have to overwrite the actual dimension to get it right. This has two results: A) Great risk of wrong dimensions after model update. B) Tolerance function cannot be used when dimension is manually overwriten. This results in the manual written tolerance looking different than all the others on the drawing (see attached pic).

- No symbol for general surface. The existing symbols cannot be placed "free air". Workaround is a help sketch, just a line to place the symbol. Not catastrophic but annoying.

- No symbol for edges according to ISO 13715. Okay, also not existing in SWX but I use sketch blocks there for easy handling an modification. Currently using pictures(!!!) in Fusion... is there something as sketch blocks that can be used in the drawing module?

- No function to fill the part # from the 3D file in the title block. Again a great risk of expensive mistakes.

- Same with material... why is the material not pulled from 3D-file? Maybe because the material libary is not really useful?

- Why is a new version created everytime I hit the save button??? I guess every professional CAD user automatically saves his work every 10-20min... we all know about that CAD-system tend to crash at the worst time possible 😉 The problem is the amount of versions created. Why not using a check in/check out function like on other PDM systems? Or just ask if a new version should be created (similar to milestones)?

So far for the morning... got to get back wasting time. If you want to have nice laugher today then hit the "Why Fusion 360?" button at the top of this website and check out the claim about 75% reduction of your engineering time 🤣

This post made my day, I had to laugh so hard!

I was just recording a screencast highlighting 2 old bugs and a recurring limitation with Fusion 360 procedural surfaces (lofts, sweeps) when the notification of this post popped into the screen reading "Fusion 360 sucks "

Now I have to start from scratch 😉

Well I have just reinstalled fusion for the 6th time in the last 24 hours( 20th this year ).  I paid good money to use this software and it has been nothing but a problem for 2 years. The tool library is locking up every time I try to open it. As usual none of autodesks bogus solutions work. autoclean install, manual clean install, waste more time uninstall, waste more time reinstall etc......................................................................................................

Fix your software.

I have been using CAD/CAM software for 30 yrs. I have taught people for over 20 yrs. Every brand. I have never had so many issues with any other software.

This is my personal paid subscription, but I work for 2 shops that also have paid subscriptions of this software because of me. I will gladly go back to mastercam  if I have to.

Fix your software.

If you have specific problems, then create a new thread and provide a detailed description of the problem. Responding to the thread with such elaborate title with another negative post isn't most intelligent thing to do with your first post in this community!

It just sucks.  Why is there not a panel that shows you an object you have selected so that you can make changes by typing in the dimension you want to change?  Why can't I center a cube or any object about the 0,0,0 origin?  Why does it suck so bad?  Who designed this software, someone who has never used design software?  This is absolutely terrible and an incredible waste of time.

If your time is worth anything Fusion 360 is incredibly expensive because it is such a waste of time.

I think MS Word would be an easier program to create a legitimate drawing in.  At least it has some options.  Fusion is just stupid.

@donohmw

There is.

This is basic.  How much training have you had?  Do you have an experience in any MCAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo/ProE?), creating a cube or box is the same in all of them.

Hi donohmw,

The CAD Whisperer ("Mentor") is a waste of your time. He is here to belittle people and lead you down a path of no resolve.

As for fusion in general their help and support are terrible.

I paid $1500.00 to have autodesk change their "minimum requirements" 1/3rd of the way through my subscription,

then had to buy a new computer to be able to see tool libraries. I wasted 2 weeks of my time with a tech to find this out.

But I did only pay $1500.00. So, I guess it's like buying a car and just expecting it to have an engine!!!

Fusion 360 isn't a polygon modeler like Blender, for example,  where modeling is not parametric.

CAD software architecture and the associated UI are quite different.

What are your system specs?

I've read the previous posts, but really don't know what you are talking about. Could you elaborate, or at least complete the sentence?

BTW, I've worked on macs with Fusion 360 exclusively since late 2014. Only in the last year I've started working with it also on a Windows computer and only very, very rarely do I see a difference in behavior.
