Current file version looses all geometry data if body visibility is toggled off while editing text element in an existing sketch in the timeline.

My current understanding of 360 is that in order to edit a text element in a sketch, that element has to be activated by double clicking on it.  Also, that element can be double clicked only it there is a direct line of sight to the element.  If a body is obstructing the direct view of that element it cannot be double-click activated.  At least, I don't see any other way of doing so, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

In any case, while I was editing an existing sketch in the timeline, one which I created to add text to the design, I turned off body visibility in order to gain direct access to the text element I wanted to edit. Once I edited the text I clicked to FINISH SKETCH, and I then turned on body visibility back on to show the body again, but the body never showed up again.  The sketches were there, and all the features in the timeline and browser tree were there, but not the body.  I tried several different things to see if I could 'bring back' the body, but nothing.

I then tried 'View Details on Web', and tried to open the file there.  I got this:

Model is empty, there is no geometry for the viewer to show.

At that point my only option was to open the previous version I had saved, update it, and re-save it.

This has now happened to me twice; same sequence of events.  Once earlier today, and once 2 days ago (with a full reboot of my system in-between).  That leads me to believe that this is a glitch within the app, and not in my system, I presume.

Fortunately, I was able to perform the edits I needed to do —both times— because it was possible to target the text element, without obstruction from the body, by precisely reorienting the body to a position that allowed direct access to the text element. After that, it was just a matter of zooming in far enough to have enough surface to double-click on.

I look forward to your response. Thank you!

please share the design, preferably in the "no geometry" state.  Note that this warning only means that there is no visible body geometry in the design.  If you save the design in a rolled-back state, you will see this warning, but it does not mean that the design is corrupt in any way.

Thanks Jeff.  I wasn't trying to save the design when the body's visibility didn't come back.  The body's history state wasn't rolled back either.  As I mentioned, the body's visibility was lost, and didn't come back after I toggled the visibility off in order to perform the edit, and then toggled it back on once the sketch was finished.  After unsuccessfully trying different things to get the body to show up again, I then saved the design; still trying to see if I could recover the body's visibility.  Once saved, the saved version showed a blank graphic in the data panel as well. I then tried opening the design on the web.  When I did that, that's when I got:

Model is empty, there is no geometry for the viewer to show.

•Please upload the file again to see if that fixes the issue.

However, the weird thing is I can't reproduce the behavior any more.  I spent a good amount of time trying to reproduce the steps that led to the empty geometry, but wasn't able to duplicate the results.  The design version history does show several blank version though.  (There are now more than one blank versions due to my efforts to recover body visibility by either promoting them, or opening.)  If I open any of these version I'm unable to make them show the body of the design; its sketches, timeline, and browser tree are there, however. Is it possible this was a temporary condition?   Thanks again.   –Marco

it's certainly possible that this is a temporary state that you cannot reproduce now.  If you want to post the link to one of the blank versions, we can take a look at it and see if we can determine what happened.  No guarantees, though, and if you are back making progress again, it might not be worth your effort...
