Allow operations (and checklists/files) to be assigned to Product Families

It seems the concept of Product Families is mostly for analytics and perhaps product searching.  It would be far more efficient for existing product maintenance and new product creation to have the ability to assign operations and their subsequent checklists/files according to a Product Family, rather than each product individually.  This would make small and large scale updates very manageable.

Hi @mmesser

Thank you for posting this idea. Can you provide additional details on what you are trying to accomplish?

Indeed, the product family are aimed at filtering on a product level, and not at the operation one. For operations, we recommend using the section field.

As of today, you can have an indirect link between the product family and checklist via operation: a product family has products, and that product has operations. These operations have one or more checklists. For example, you can filter by product family on the operations list, which provides you only with the operations linked to a specific product family.

@andrade_david thank you for your response.  I was trying to figure out the best way to make large scale updates, and was surprised there wasn't more functionality within the product family menu.  However, I think between the table filters and bulk edit options in the operations page, I can accomplish these types of mass updates as needed.

Glad to know you can manage within the operations list, @mmesser .

If you're having difficulties with any missing bulk action please post another idea, so that other people can see it and vote it.

Thank you!
