I'm trying to probe a component to set a WCS, but I can't seem to manipulate the position of where it probes.
Once upon a time there was a check box you could select to make the tool probe at the selected point, but now it is always defaulting to only probing to the centre of the feature.
In my attached file, I want to probe against a vertical leg, but it only lets me probe to the centre of the part.
If I change the probing type from Y-Wall to Y-Surface, It will allow me to use the selected point.
This is no good to me as I need these features to be in the centre of the part, not from one edge.

Create a dummy circular body in your cam file, with its center exactly where you want to probe, and pick that face instead of your part, it will be in center of the circle exactly where you want it.
As far as I can see it works as before. It is a bit clumsy and we have plans to improve it.

I must not have made myself very clear.
I need to find the center of the part in the Y axis and to do that I have to select the two Y faces and use Y wall as the probe type.
The example you have shown is using Angle on Y axis. This will probe the same face twice, but in different spots.
I need to probe opposite faces to find the center. Yours will only find the edge of the part and not find the center of the part.
Once upon a time, when you selected the "use selection point" check box, it would use the probe Y wall function exactly where you selected the face,
just like it does when you probe Y face.
That's an idea worth trying. Except it can't be a circular body, the probing cycle will try to probe in X and Y, I need Y only.
I can make an dummy rectangular shape where I need it like you suggested and just probe the Y faces I need.
But this has one flaw, the leg I want to probe is all ready a rectangular shape where I want to probe it, but it's defaulting to center of the model, not center of the surface.
For this to work, it might have to be a separate body of it's own?

You were correct. Just wish the Autodesk boffins would stop changing stuff.
It's a work around, but makes the fusion file messy and more confusing with these extra bodies etc...
This is only a simple part I knocked out for this example as the real file is enormous and would require NDA signings.
It has to be a new separate body. Now I just have to deal with all the other problems this will cause, like collisions, part qty counts in drawings, model associations from other component sets and anything else I haven't yet found.

I always program CAM in an assembly, and I create these dummy bodies into that assembly, so it does not affect part qty in drawings, because my assembly is only used for CAM. Same for model associations, these dummy bodies are not associated to anything except they live in the CAM assembly, they have no effect on anything at all, not even collisions, because you make the body go inside the walls of your part, so your part covers these bodies completely.
That is my case, maybe programming CAM in its own assembly is not practical for you though.
Please fix this Autodesk Fusion 360! This is not a solution.
So close and yet so far with the WCS Probing Features.
PS We are trying to point out the issues with your software but our suggestions go as unnoticed as pressing the "Close Door" button on an elevator. Is this forum pointless?
