ENGRAVING TEXT

Hello There,

Once again need help. So, i have a long text that i vectorized into AI and then sent to fusion 360.

First of all for inserting that .DXF into fusion it takes approximatly 15minutes. Then to convert it from inched to mm it takes 10 minutes. Seems huge to me for a software as glorious as fusion. Well then ok it's open.

So the point is to engrave all those letters in a stock kinda wood (swiss cdf exactly) which is a white laminate on a piece of black polyurethane. What i wanna do is mill the white laminate so i obtain the black to appear as letters (sorry, i'm still french, do my best to make myself understand)

Since now it's open, it is totally impossible to insert that dxf on the stock of 1800MM by 1000MM, fusion would just crash...

So i decided that maybe i could work on the dxf straightly and then tell fusion that i wanna mill those contours with a 1MM tool at let's say 2MM mm depth... But then ! I have to select ALL the letters ONE BY ONE... impossible to me, i mean i have 17 of those to make.. Imagine my life ; )

Do you have any idea how to do that easily ?

Thanks a lot for your help guys !

When you pick 4 words the outcome can be considered good.

Pick 4 scentences and you see the problem (machine time wise)

We must not forget that Fusion is not a specialised engraving package, and I'm very happy that the ability to do this is great.

There is room for improvement.

I don't think it approaches the text letter by letter..  that would make it so much better. And maybe not even that hard to implement.

If you do it line by line it works if it's along the X, yes it takes long to set up but cuts the cut time down a lot, I would post a pick but I cant for some reasion.

Like I said it's not just for engraving text. If you think finding the shortest path for a set of points is easy there's a $1,000,000 prize you can win for an efficient traveling salesman algorithm seem easy to our brains but not when it comes to programing. I've used several different cam packages and when it comes to V carve none are good, actually Fusion's probably the best.

The only real improvement would be options for the start point and whether to bias the sort left to right or top to bottom. Having to use the bottom left corner as the datum needs improving.

Héhé, hello again, this is not quite finished actually. Soooooo i got my nose back into it because they validate the project. But now, the solution peter found with the svg converter was great, so i made exactly the same thing today. But as i was doing it and importing my svg into fusion, instead of making me paths of letters like in the precedent example that Peter solved, it makes me green lines, it's vectorised. So it's awfully long to load, and then i have to click around each letter for engraving.

The solution Peter offered, use to give me path, blocks of letters, i just had to click on the line and it was working, engraving.

How do you get your SVG to load sentences as blocks ? Blue ones, so you do not have to select it all. ? ANy ideas ? Thanks for helping
