export dxf to another program fails

I took a simple design and exported it to dxf.  I then tried to import that dxf into Torchmate CAD lite and it fails.  It causes the Torchmate software to hang and i have to kill the process.  I was trying to get the file loaded in to TM so i could nest it before cutting it out on a CNC plasma table.  When i compared the exported dxf to another one that works fine, this is what they look like opened in notepad.  Not sure if this is the reason, but I thought i would make a thread about it.

Tyler this is more of a cad function than a cam. Have you asked on the cad side of the forum as well?

nope.  Thanks for the heads up.  I'll create another thread over there and ask.

The image is really too small to read anything, so I can't say for sure, and I'm not sure which is the one that works and which is not.  I'm assuming what you exported was a sketch.

Right now the Fusion dxf export only exports a newer style of dxf.  I'm trying to get support for older styles as well.  It is very possible that TM soes not support the newer dxf.

If you want nesting built into Fusion, please vote on this IdeaStation suggestion, http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/ideastation-request-a-feature-or/advanced-nesting-functionality-for-ca....

What kind of plasma table do you have?

OK, I can read the picture you put up on photobucket.  Are you using Fusion on a mac?  Mac has different line endings and that may have something to do with it.

hey there Matt! yes, im using Fusion on a mac. I started another thread over on the CAD side and we tracked down the formatting to a windows vs mac issue. I got that sorted out with a 3rd party program to save the file with windows editing but it still doesnt work. Right now, i have to import the dxf to google sketchup, then export again as dxf in order to get my torchmate software to open it. Im sure it has to do with the newer file type you are using. So thats my work around for now, its annoying, but gets the job done. Hopefully they will build in a checkbox to export it in the older format.

Thanks for the response and letting me know about the nesting vote! i went ahead and did that. That would be a super awesome feature.

just today we are following up on support for older dxf formats (I need that too). I've brought up the subject of mac vs windows text formatting as well.

you *might* find this free addin helpful, https://apps.autodesk.com/FUSION/en/Detail/Index?id=appstore.exchange.autodesk.com:dxfsplinetopolyli... - it is available right now.  Or it might be unusable since it appears that it breaks all splines into equal number of segments.
