What files to send for PCB manufacturing?

I have finished designing a PCB and now want it manufactured - i have some questions regarding what to send to the PCB manufactures.

1. which files to send / is there overlap

i have generated:

From schematic page

Bill of materials

pdf of schematic

from PCB

CAM Export ODB ++ Output

Netlist
pick and place

Q: Is this an exhaustive list or am i missing something ? Is there any overlap i can exclude?

2. BOM file contains a part I created without any bits

I have created a libary component called "surface conenctors" that is surface connectors that attach to my device.

However it results in BOM

Q: How do i/should I eliminate components which are just traces, from BOM ? the pads are connected to other components of mine.

Hi  leodavide,

If you only want to manufacture the PCB, then the ODB++ should be sufficient.

Some board houses prefer Gerber files. These can be exported from Fusion as well.
When you send the manufacturer the files, they will let you know if they are missing a file.

For excluding components from the BOM you can use attributes and some manual labor.

I use an attribute called Do Not Mount (DNM). I then have a python script that sorts out all components with that attribute. You can do something similar in Excel or LibreOffice.

Good luck!

Hi @erik.buerV95QJ

thanks for your reply.

I want to ask for turnkey service (they source the components and do pick and place) - does your reply on pnly ODB++ suffice?

BOM -

Ok so removing them isn't anything particular,  I can just go in the file and cancel the lines i dont want since my component list ins't long enough to warrant a python scipt

thanks,

Leo
